View Full Version : Finale question

While watching "Landmark Part-1" last night on TVLand, I was shocked to see the episode didn't have a laugh track. I've seen this ep before and could swear it had one! It was eerily silent after the jokes, except for the occasional chuckle from the crew, which would have been covered up by the normal canned laughter. Does anybody know why this one episode is being presented this way?

I dunno. Maybe they where trying for a more laid back kinda feeling with the final episode.

The episode in question was only part 1 of the 3-part finale. Part 2 aired tonight and had the normal canned laughter...

I might add that the show was quite striking without the laughter...and I wish all eps were like it

I read that on a mailing list. They filmed the finale without a laugh track or studio audience - only the crew's laughter. They stopped using a studio audience after the 2nd or 3rd season and just used the canned laughter and canned applause leading into commercials.

Let me clarify this again...the episode I'm referring to wasn't technically the finale, but the 3rd to last episode "Landmark Part-1". The lst two eps ("Landmark Part-2" and "Part-3") had the normal laugh track.
