I just watched the greatest show in watts last night havent seen it for a while. IT was funny as heck.

FRED: Ester why don't you shave your armpits like everybody else

ESTER: Why dont you shave your beard you old Billy Goat

IT may not be the funnies't of all but a sure classic. You know sometimes when i watch sanford and son i can almost believe that it is real. Redd Foxx i have never seen in any movies. But from sanford and son he plays his part so well you can almost believe that Redd Foxx is really a lower class man in the junk buisness from watts. I mean this is coming from sombody who is only a young 21. Maybe its because i love the show so much and never seen Redd Foxx in anything else. Sometimes i wish that the show have gone on for a couple more seasons. 6 seasons is not enought to satisfy me:) . ALthough i guess I can watch 1-6 DVD's for the rest of my life.:)

PS: Does anybody know where i can get any other spinoffs on DVD. LIke "Sanford" or The Sanford Arms to add to my collection thanks.

I love when Fred came out in that ringmaster's outfit. He looked soo funny with his big gut hanging out.

Although I was a regular viewer of S&S during its network run, and have see every episode many times, it wasn't until I started doing some 'net surfing that I found this and other boards and learned a few things about the show and its actors/actresses.

Case in point: The Greatest Show in Watts has LaWanda Page (Esther) doing a "Bronze Goddess of Fire" act. According to another S&S website, this exact act was LaWanda Page's act when she was a Vaudeville performer in her younger days. The story is that Redd Foxx brought many of his friends from the Vaudeville days to the TV screen for S&S. If memory serves, that group includes Slappy White, Leroy and Skillet, Bubba, Big Money Grip, Bowlegs, and possibly others I can't recall right now. At age 49, I have a worsening case of CRS disease--Can't Remember Stuff.

As far as TV goes, I'm a lot like that guy in the motor oil commercial--the one with the old cars and motorcycles--"I like new things, especially when they get old"

That's how the guy who played Fred's brother in law Rodney got on the show. Fred saw him doing standup in Las Vegas and liked him so much he signed him up for the show.

Hey, YouBigDummy, check out the Tape Trading Section of Sitcoms Online. That's where I found someone who has tapes of the spinoff show "SANFORD" from 1980. I can't wait to get them and find out about the show.

I ordered VHS tapes from TVShow Analyzer(or Solomon). He's got a whole list of old shows on tape he's willing to sell, including "SANFORD" and "THE SANFORD ARMS"(1977-78).
