View Full Version : moonlighting social club
marla 11-15-2004, 08:54 PM hi everyone
apparently my moonlighting parties have been a hit. and someone suggested starting a book club so people could see each other once a week. ( sort of a fluid, ever changing group of friends-around 50 or 60 people). the only trouble with a book club is that you've got to read and analyze.
so now it's the 'moonlighting social club'-i'd say at least 50% haven't seen moonlighting. we're going to watch a moonlighting episode from the pilot on and then dicuss. one a week.
none of us have anytime, but it's ok with everybody if i take notes from the dicussions and post comments from each episode here.
we'll meet once a week (tuesdays at 9p.m. because someone said that's what time moonlighting originally aired.)
people will be bringing their parents, children, dates, spouses, or no one at all.
if you would like me to post a weekly report i'd love to. if you would find this annoying my feelings will Not be hurt.
let me know.
CindyK 11-16-2004, 12:26 AM Post away... The more fun, the more talk, the better!
Dutchie 11-16-2004, 07:51 AM I would love to read your reports:D
I love hearing people's opinions about different episodes. Even after all the times I've seen them, it makes me watch them differently and notice new things! :)
marla 11-16-2004, 04:52 PM the only episodes 'the moonlighting social club' will see out of order are the 2 christmas ones. i told someone that cindyk watched both on christmas eve and before you know it a vote was taken and we're getting together on christmas eve to watch both.
about every religon there is is in this group of friends (christian, jewish, muslim, buddest, hindu, atheist...) but we Always get together for christmas eve.
great idea marla!!!! wish i had some friends like this. none of mine get into stuff like that. i could sit down and talk (old) wrestling, M*A*S*H, sanford and son, STAR WARS, and such at length with anyone. if i had someone to do it with. guess that's why i'm on so many message boards. i have a 9 year old cousin and we talk STAR WARS together when we get together. but he's it.
feel free to tell us about your parties. be great knowing what non fans have to say after being subjected to MOONLIGHTING.

marla 11-16-2004, 11:52 PM you know bry, i think the only common denomenator in 'the moonlighting social club' is that deep down, we're all shallow. there's a feeling of sheer relief in being around each other. i mean i love moonlighting and that's all it took-everybody already loves moonlighting even if they've never seen it. people are doing research on it-and are pumped! another common denomenator is our very real curiosity and humour (or humor) about each others differences. as david addison would say 'you say potatoe-i say spud.'
too bad your not around here, i think you fit right in-even if you didn't!
the pilot is tonight!
no doubt, i wish i were with you guys. be better than sitting around wondering why my hand is hurting.......
hope you all had fun.
where are you at BTW, if you don't mind me asking?
MulberryGal 11-17-2004, 06:53 AM Sounds like a great idea Marla, I'd love to hear other peoples comments on Moonlighting... More the merrier as they say!

kolchak 11-17-2004, 11:21 PM A Moonlighting social club??
Oh Marla, I wanna join.
Bry, I hear you. As a fan of old and offbeat shows the internet has been a godsend to me as well. Let's me know I'm not the only one out there who obsessed over these shows, inc..MOONLIGHTING.
marla 11-28-2004, 09:20 PM hi everybody
the moonlighting social club is watching the 'amazing race' tuesdays nights at 9p.m. and will get back to moonlighting when the 'amazing race' finishes it's run. i'm all for this since i'm a huge fan of the host of the show who created my favorite show
N.O.W. (No Opportunity Wasted). N.O.W. ties with Desperate Housewives and the creepy CSI. other than that it's a rare that i watch tv but i do find myself putting in a video of moonlighting to just feel good at least once a week.
so as the govenor arnold of my great state would say "i'll be back"!
