Nobody should be suspended without knowing why.

And if he did get suspended because of that little Moore discussion, that's disturbing, because I've seen a lot worse from other people.

He contributed to that Yasser Arafat thread which was against the rules, I presume. But so did a certain moderator who was determined, to delete any posts on that Ronald Reagan thread, when condolences were only allowed a couple months ago. I didn't see too many condolences on that Yasser Arafat thread yesterday. In fact, I didn't see any at all. Just some terrorist-related bashing by some politically happy posters here who were glad to post their views while the opportunity was open.

In any case, I'm glad I wasn't apart of it, and I'm glad that thread was finally closed. :)

one thing to keep in mind is, even tho Brad is very left-wing, he gets along with most of the right-wing posters in here. For example, him and Brent are very civil and respectful to each other, same with Stormtracker and Janice and others. I would say he probably only has 2 "enemies" here, and I think those two enemies violate terms of service more than Brad does. One of them is so caught up and obsessed over him that he keeps making new sn's up just to tell Brad to kill himself.

The Yasser Arafat thread was meant to be a NEWS thread, LIKE the Ronald Reagan thread. It turned political when someone named "Spanky"(who's been here before under another name) posted in it. AKA did NOT start it.

What is your problem anyway? I have no sympathy for Yasser Arafat, whereas I had a LOT for Ronald Reagan, but I guess it's the opposite with you.

But it wasn't just about his death. I agree. In fact I think that thread should be out-right deleted. Who knows if there are posters here at SitcomsOnLine that happen to be of Muslim decent. Well Im not sure what happened. If it was something major and if he was warned than a 2 or 3 day suspension would be suitable. If he wasnt warned and it wasnt anything major..than he didnt deserve a suspension.

Sounds like TJ finally decided to get serious about the suspending business.

In any case, both sides need to cool off for a bit. Luckily, Brad was just suspended and not banned. I'll be looking forward to him coming back, provided nothing happens like what happened with him and Brian D. the other day.

I’m all for letting Brad back on. He’s a great guy and an interesting, entertaining and prolific poster. He’s been an asset, if ever there was one, to these boards. So before you hear the rest of my rap, please keep in mind that that is my overall opinion about his suspension.

A suspension rarely if ever is based on just one or two posts. It’s most always decided upon after a few ‘close calls’ and then, finally, some last straw kind of thing.

To my knowledge, no one but TJ suspends people from the board. So, maybe, you can stop guessing about who made the decision to suspend AKA. You can be sure, though, that TJ based his decision on several infractions to his board rules. Let’s try to be fair about that. I’m not at all saying that I agree with his decision. I’m just doing some attorney/client kind of stuff here for the sake of fairness.

I got suspended once, and I can tell you that I was alerted to my close calls before it happened. In my case I didn’t give a leap when I put in my last two cents prior to being suspended. I was up to here at the time (still am really) with batting my head against the wall:wallbang on certain subjects with certain people. So it was no wonder that TJ obliged me and granted my wishes.

I miss Brad already and I’ll sign any petition to hurry up his return. If that turns out to be a week or ten days though, I’ll send Brad a file. If that doesn’t get him out then I’ll send him some dancing girls to help the time pass more quickly.;)

One mans terrorist is another's freedom fighter, Yassar Arafat, was most definately a freedom fighter.

In any case, both sides need to cool off for a bit. Luckily, Brad was just suspended and not banned. I'll be looking forward to him coming back, provided nothing happens like what happened with him and Brian D. the other day. Provided that people don't follow him to random threads to start fights.

It was a private (not public) message. Janice is allowed to say whatever she wants in a PM and her privacy was violated (though I know Brent88 didn't do it on purpose).

Let's just drop it.

Anyways, Im not gonna bitch and moan about freeing him, because the decision has already been made and nothing can change that. We could have everyone protest, but whats done is done. Im sure it will only be for a day or 2 anyways. TJ finally put his foot down and unfortunatly for Brad, he was the example. well, why not play fair and suspend someone like Brian Damage, who purposely follows Brad into boards to instigate trouble? Or is it all okay because he's a "Bush-loving patriot" while Brad is a "Michael Moore loving traitor" (in the conservative POV)?

Well since we're speifying people who should be banned-

Why is i am him still here? 25% of the time he's a decent member, but he intentionally harrasses and humiliates people whenever he can. i'm sick of him and his disrespectful intentions on this board and so are many other people.

Brian offered to be suspended with him for talking politics with Brad.

You sent me a PM about my moderating duties in August and I sent you a response but you didn't even have the courtesy to even read it. I ended tracking after a few weeks. I'll say this right now.

I am not playing favorites. For your information (and don't turn this into a political discussion) I am not a conservative. I'm a liberal. So I'm not editing out left-wing stuff because of my political affiliations. It may seem like people's left-wing threads are the only being done away with because nobody posts conservative-minded threads. If there were any political threads, liberal or conservative, they would be locked regardless. So don't accuse me of this ****.

I am getting sick of people getting on my case and questioning my moderating duties the last few months. I'm supposed to be fair and I, as well as the other mods, are given no leeways when it comes to political discussions. I am doing what I am asked to do. If you have any complaints about my job, take it to TJ privately. I don't want to hear it and I don't want them made public. Do you want me making public complaints about you?

Brad's my friend. Do you think I even want to do get rid of his political threads? But then he should know very well that poltical threads are not allowed. Yet he kept making them. I hope he gets allowed back soon as much as the next person. But this suspension should tell him that TJ is serious about political discussions on SO.

As much as people want to deny it, it appears to be the truth and nothing will change my mind--unless of course, certain people get a suspension themselves, which I don't see happening. Besides, the damage has already been done. AKA did not deserve this when there are others who tie politics into their posts and some even are malicious in doing so.

Just to clarify things: from what I understand, AKA was not formally warned. He doesn't know why he was suspended. He should have at least been told WHY this decision was made. So if we all don't know, and he doesn't know...well, something needs explaining.

It's not that BrianDamage is a "Bush loving patriot". It's the fact that Brad is constantly singled out over his behavior because he is left-wing, which is "not cool right now", but yet right-wing offenders who are worse than he is get off scott-free because right now, being conservative is less "controversial".

If Brad is being suspended, so should BrianDamage and some other right-wingers who are worse.

I was suspended in february for god knows ****ing what. despite the number of times i've asked, no one has bothered to tell me what i did. whatever. TJ was probably just sick of me. and the fact that he talks slanderous **** about me in announcement threads and in PM's to other people doesn't convince me otherwise.

I do tend to agree with the right wing favortism slant some of you have posted about though. Not because of TJ. I don't think he has a bent one way or the other. I don't know exactly why the favortism slant is that way on here but it really seems to be so. Okay, so yes, he was warned, however it was never made clear that it would come to this... that's the problem I am having with the whole situation. He's having to suffer through being the example here of what happens when the adminstrator is fed up with politics. I agree to an extent, if it was someone who wasn't as popular as Brad would there still be all this protest? Would people still feel that person was being made an example of?

Sadly I think the answer to that is No
