Two days ago I picked up Elton John's new CD called Peachtree Road. I'm a big fan of Elton, but I've been disapointed by much of the music that he has made over the last decade. Though I was optimistic, Peachtree Road turned out to be perhaps his worst album yet. Anyone else hear this new album? What did you think?

I haven't heard it, and was never a BIG fan of his to the point where I would buy one of his albums, but his 70s to mid 80s songs are much much better than the stuff he's been making in the last decade or so. After Club At the End of the Street and You Gotta Love Someone which were both from 1990 or so his music seems completely manufactured for the purposes of making him money, it is really lacking something that was there before, like his wealthy lifestyle has robbed him of the ability to write and perform songs the way he did in years past. That's my 2 cents.

Haven't heard it, but there has been much buzz about it being the best he has done in years.
Maybe because it is so new you may need to give it sometime, and listen to it more. I know there have been times that I bought CD's or been give a CD and not liking it, put it away and them listen to it after awhile and liking it.

Yeah, this has been the case with me too.

Is it anything like Tumbleweed Connection? I've heard that's how it's supposed to sound. :)

I know this is bumping. But I finally gave this cd another chance.
I downloaded it awhile back and listened to it. But, I had just listened to the Gwen Stefani cd, so I was really in an upbeat dance-type music mode, so I got bored with this cd by track 3.
However, I dug it back out and it's really grown on me. There isn't one masterpiece on the album, but yet it all works out perfectly as a whole.
I do think his big mouth really hurt the album's chances though.

Yeah, Peachtree Road has been selling very poorly. I think that it only peaked at number 17 on the Billboard album chart.
