Now that MLB free agentcy has offically begun, where will the most sought after player Carlos Beltran end up? What team will sign Carlos Beltran?

I think it is foregone conclussion that Beltran with sign with the Yankees. Beltran's agent has made it clear, Beltran wants the big bucks, and the spotlight. The Yankees want Beltran, and will offer the most money. Beltran will sign with the Yankees. It is as simple as that.

I want him on the Mets. They need to give me a reason to start cheering for them again.

The Yankees don't need hitting, they need pitching. Getting Beltran would be great, but that's not what the Yankees need right now.

Will who is to say they can't have both Beltran and pitching? This is the Yankess you are talking about.

True, but right now the Yankees need to be agressive on pitching. They need to totally focus on getting guys like Randy Johnson, Carl Pavano, Eric Milton and maybe even David Wells.

I heard the Yankees are very likely to sign Eric Milton this weekend. And trust me, they are forused on getting Randy Johnson. They will do whatever it takes to get Johnson when the D-Backs put him on the market next month.

If Sammy Sosa is traded,he will be a Chicago Cub.

Are the Cubs going to offer more money than the Yankees? No.

Anyone who thinks Beltran is leaving the Yankee money on the table is living in fantasy land.

No Scott Boras client takes less money to sign anywhere. As long as Boras is Beltran's agent, I think it is safe to fit Beltran for pinestripes. That is the way of free agentcty. Team with the most money gets their man. It is as simple as that.

The Cubs and Mets have had two straight meetings about Sosa. The Mets would part with Cliff Floyd. Mets GM Omar Minaya, I believed drafted Sosa when he was with the Texas Rangers. Other teams rumored to be interested in are Dodgers,Marlins,Orioles. The only reason teams are reluctant to trade for Sosa is because of the money the team would inherit from his contract. Besides the Yankees don't need Beltran, they need pitching. They have plenty of offense. I am telling you if Sosa is dealt, the Cubs will severly go after him. Time will tell in the next few weeks.

I agree the Yankees need pitching. Giving the choice of either having Randy Johnson or Carlos Beltran, I rather have Randy Johnson. The Yankees would be the World Champions right now if they had Johnson.

But still, the smart money is on the Yankees to sign Beltran.

OMG. Rumor has it that Betran just signed a 10 year deal with the phillies.

I'm happy for the Mets. They're probably my 2nd favorite team, after the Yankees of course :D Beltran is one of my favorite MLB players & it would have been nice to have him as a Yankee, but the Mets are rebuilding their club & they need him more than the Yankees right now. I'm also glad to see Willie Randolph as the Mets new Manager, but it's gonna be hard for me to root for the Mets this year with Pedro on the team. I guess I'll root for them in all the games that Pedro doesn't pitch in  And of course I can't root for them during the 6 games they play the Yankees in this year either ;)

I don't mind Pedro. Even back when he was with the Expos, if I wasn't necessarily a fan, I never disliked him either. I liked his chutzpah. For a scrawny guy, he's done well for himself as a successful pitcher.

I can understand if you don't want to root for the Mets during the six games they play against the Yankees this season, just as long as you root for the Mets against them in October. ;)
