Here in New York City, where the four letter word was invented, they showed Saving Private Ryan, just as they should have.

If it was truly uncut, it would've been in the widescreen format. ;)

It's a good start, but 99% of the time, most movies on American broadcast TV are not uncut. And that's just plain out-right dumb. :(

can someone please explain to me why ABC wouldn't show it this year, but had no problems airing SPR in 2001? Hell, HBO showed the movie without commercial interruptions many times around 1999-2000.

You can't compare HBO with ABC since people pay for HBO and anything goes. From articles that I've read -- since the Janet Jackson fiasco, networks are running scared to the point of being overly cautious.

well, I know HBO is a different ballpark. But it's insane that ABC aired the movie in November 2001 (maybe in 2002 also) and it was A-OK, but then they aired it now and people run scared. I wasn't sure if it was due to politics over being wartime or something. But if anything (no politics), SPR is a movie people should see because it is a very realistic film about war.

the FCC is trigger happy, a bunch of fox stations got fined over some reality show, and the individual stations get in trouble, not the central network.
