take off? Season 1 or 2 and wat episode? To me, i feel this show started to really take off in the episode "Thelma's Young Man". It was an interesting storyline and after this episode the show hit it's stride. Season 1 was ok but season 2 is when the show started rolling.

Season 2. Some of the first season episodes were very weak. Sex and The Evans Family was a good episode. The first season got better as it went along, the first few episodes weren't great, I guess because the characters weren't as clearly defined as they would be in later episodes/seasons. So I'd pick season 2 as the season where Good Times found its stride.
