Having read the article at Toon Zone, and the interview with the head of the company that's going to release the Fat Albert DVDs, all I can say is...

Uh oh.

They're gonna release these things all out of sequence, and what's worse, they're going to include the crappy, preachy episodes from the early 80s (with *ugh* "Legal Eagle")...

If I were doing this, I'd relese the first two seasons, in chronological order, in one box set, so that modern-day viewers can see what was so great about this show in the first place...namely, that they didn't hit you over the head with the lessons being presented, and the characters were allowed to be characters (Fat Albert made just as many mistakes as the rest of the gang in the beginning, before being transformed into a boring goody-two-shoes in the episodes made after 1975), and they had all those cool songs ("Don't Make Fun of A Small Guy"; "Beggin' Benny", and {my personal favorite} "The Hospital"). And I'd make @#*! sure I included the "Suede Simpson" hygine story from 1976 (probably the funniest cartoon ever made!)

But I guess we'll have to wait and see how these first releases go, huh?

Well I always loved Fat Albert. In fact, I've been writing to Teletoon hoping that they would consider adding the cartoon to their new Teletoon Retro digital channel when the launch it next year. But until then, I'll just have to enjoy watching the new DVD's I guess. :)

I can't wait for the series to come out on DVD on December 14th. It was the first animated series by Bill Cosby before "Fatherhood" came along. In addition to that series. I was in the city when I was looking at the billboard that the movie "Fat Albert" will be out in theatres starting Christmas day. That's great news.:) I remember the cartoon since I was a kid.

Well since Nickelodeon/Nick @ Nite is already showing The Cosby Show, and has shown Kids Say The Darndest Things, they should think about putting Fat Albert on Nick.
