Two bits of bad news, guys.

According to a reviewer who got his copy early, the episodes are not in widescreen. It's standard full-frame, like all the other seasons. Apparently, even though it was broadcast in widescreen HDTV, it wasn't intended to be, which is why they kept it full-frame.

Also, the retrospective that came before the finale isn't included on the set, either as an episode or a special feature.

:( This all disappoints me somewhat.

Well I could care less about the Widescreen bit but why would they cut out the retrospective? I mean, it wasn't actually a retrospective, so much as a clip show. Which would make it an episode, which means they should include it. Idiots.

Paramount can kiss my ass.

But.... if the show was intended to be fullscreen.... I can handle that.

But not including the retrospective was a BAD move.
What are the special features??

Not sure what the special features are. I got this info from a reviewer, who has a preview copy and posted on a message board to warn everyone about this stuff. He hasn't posted a review yet, but I guess I could ask and find out.

exactly. what the hell is the point of rushing the final season to dvd if you do a crap job on it? Analyzing the Laughter is part of that final season, an important part at that. It should have been included.

Well, it's been confirmed. It's in fullscreen because Paramount didn't intend for it to be in widescreen. Of course, this begs the question of, "Then why film it in widescreen at all?"

I hope when "Joey" comes to DVD, it's in HDTV widescreen, not fullscreen.

Maybe it wasn't shot in widescreen, just cropped to fit HDTV.

True. I didn't even think of that, for some reason.
