I hate to sound stupid, but I don't know what VCD is.

Video CD - it has fair to decent resolution, similar to a video tape. Many (not all) DVD players will accept it and play it, just like a DVD.

I've got a bunch of Newsradio episodes on DVD, but not the entire set (Biography channel stopped airing them!). Let me know if you don't have luck getting the whole series.
