View Full Version : Enough!!
Newbie 10-30-2004, 10:09 PM Geez, how many times are they going to show the stinkin' witch episode? We get it, it's Halloween. D.J. Tanner is a pale faced witch. Thanks for reminding us...over, and over, and over, and over again.
Is anyone else sick of that episode? I was hoping the weekend episodes would be an escape from it (Season 1 kicked major arse) but nope. They've only showed the witch episode 1,004,500,033 times this month, so a few people in Nebraska probably haven't seen it yet.
Okay...I got that out of my system.
Man, did Boy Meets World jump the shark when Joey Lawrence's brother joined the cast, or what? It went from funny/witty family humor to 90210 meets Saved by the Bell.
spunkygirl 10-30-2004, 10:40 PM Geez they've only shown it like twice already, calm down, no one's forcing you to watch that episode.
No I hate that term "Jump the Shark" IMO BMW never jumped the shark

When did I say I was forcing myself to watch it? Did I not CLEARLY say they've been showing it too many times....not that I've been watching it each time?
Surprise surprise, it's on today as well. That's at least the 5th time in the last 2-3 weeks. And no, I won't be watching. The Jennifer Love Hewitt episode isn't half bad when you turn your head when Angela appears on the screen (her, Lawrence, and the red head....killed it).

When Matt Lawrence came in....it did. When it turned into a watered down soap opera....it did. When everyone except Shawn got LESS mature as the show went on....it did. Every show passes its prime, or jumps the shark, it's nothing new.
I enjoy BMW a lot. I can't catch it everyday with my schedule (which is why I'm complaining about the freakin' witch episode, it's on everytime I'm home, it seems), but the quality of the show dipped badly when Matt Lawrence and Angela came in.

I have a hard time believing this thread is an example of "fighting". I was stating my opinion about the quality of the show and a specific episode, while she was stating hers. Not that big of a deal.

IMO, it dosen't matter who that person is arguing with. He/she is expressing his/her emotions and if Angela decides to bann that person or whatever, that's just misusing her power and that's bad modmanship, lol.

Nope sorry disagree. The show never got soap operaish, have you ever seen a soap? I'm betting no. Friends was soap operaish, fans of that show will say so.
Expect that this time of year. Disney does the same thing with "Who's Afraid of Cory Wolf" Christimas time they will show the Christmas episodes alot. ABCF is doing it with Family Matters and Step by Step but fans of those shows aren't complaining.
Just because a show might seem "soapopera-ish" doesn't mean it JTS. I know alot of people who like the later seasons of the show much better than the early seasons.
I like Matthew Lawrence, he didn't write for the show, so he's not to blame if you think the show got bad when he joined.
But this is just my opinion :)

I can't ban anyone only TJ can do that, and I would never ban anyone for disagreeing with me.

Newbie 10-31-2004, 02:07 PM The show never got soap operaish, have you ever seen a soap? I'm betting no. Friends was soap operaish, fans of that show will say so.
Friends didn't have soap opera stories, and the characters on that show were in their mid-30's. Friends made fun of certain situations (marriage, pregnancy, harrassment, etc) while BMW took those situations seriously. You didn't see Ross and Monica having a step brother they hadn't met for 15 years (or whatever that was) with some long explanation come in out of nowhere. There is a clear difference there.

I expect it twice maybe. Not 4 or 5 or 6 times. ABCF is running some "13 nights of Halloween" or something like that and just keep repeating the same episodes over and over. It's annoying.
Just because a show might seem "soapopera-ish" doesn't mean it JTS. I know alot of people who like the later seasons of the show much better than the early seasons.

If Lawrence came in and the show was still well written, I wouldn't be so hard on it. Unfortunately, it seemed as though Lawrence came in, and the show completely tanked from that point. The characters seemed to be get less mature as the years went on (with the exception of Shawn), and considering they were putting a more serious spin on some of the storylines, it didn't mesh. It didn't make sense to have Eric act like a ****** for 99% of the show, than have a storyline where he wants to adopt a child. It's insulting to the audience, IMO.
The storyline inconsistencies didn't help either. I know it's difficult to keep everything logical when people get older/change, but some of the stories in the later episodes, especially for fans of the earlier episodes, were somewhat head stratching. For instance, I saw an episode a while back where Eric and Cory have a fight because Eric wants things to be "like the old days" when Cory and Eric would hang out with each other. Than I see an earlier episode a few months later when Cory is upset at Eric leaving for college because Eric would always choose his friends over Cory and that Cory never really knew his brother growing up. If you saw those two episodes back to back, it would be completely contradictory to the viewer. It's things like that, among other things, which dropped the quality of the show, IMO.
I was a big BMW fan during the earlier seasons. I never really saw the newer ones until this summer. I was very disappointed, needless to say, at what the show became.
I did enjoy the finale though.

Raisingdad2004 10-31-2004, 04:26 PM But I would say rude bashing of the show , would be a bit different.
Geez man , get a life - Spending 10 minutes writing up a speech , about how bad the TV show was:rolleyes:
Newbie 10-31-2004, 05:24 PM But I would say rude bashing of the show , would be a bit different.
Rude bashing of the show? Seriously? I found it to be rather objective and I backed up my thoughts with facts. In other words, a well informed opinion.
I would be interested to see what parts of my post you interpreted as "rude", though.
Maybe you're related to Matt Lawrence?
Geez man , get a life - Spending 10 minutes writing up a speech , about how bad the TV show was
When three paragraphs constitutes a "speech", it's either telling of your educational background ("lots of words...head hurts"), or your blatant attempt at reaching for an insult. It took less than 10 minutes, by the way. I type fast and you'll be surprised how using proper sentence structure speeds up the writing process.
Sargent Stewie 10-31-2004, 06:05 PM I don't want to see Newbie go away to another board here. His/her rants are a good read. :)
Blossom 10-31-2004, 07:12 PM That episod is pretty good. I like the "unreal" episodes better than the "ordinary day" episodes. So I can īt agree.
Soap opera, well BMW never turned out to be real a soap opera but it was dangerously near when Cory and Topanga breaked up and so did Shawn and Angela. They all fighted each other. But Eric, Rachel and Jack saved the episodes. I dont think Matt Lawrence was bad.
At last, I have to say I enoy your little arguring about when your diffenent channels and TV networks shown the episodes. Here in Sweden and Danmark the networks just buy the series from U.S. and show them from episode 1 - xxxx episode (depends how many episodes that are). Not change so the Christmas episodes come at Christmas or the Halloween episodes are around Halloween.

Seriously it does seem like you're trying to nitpick about every little thing. Geez if I did that with the shows I "like" then I couldn't watch them. Seriously you don't seem like a BMW fan
AngeFaitore 10-31-2004, 10:29 PM Actually, Boy Meets World did begin to Jump The Shark (Yeah, I'm going to use the term regardless) when they hit college. I found it really boring in the later seasons.
Plus, Mr. Turner's departure felt similar to Lowell Mather's departure from Wings.
Sure, we still had semi-stalker teacher Mr. Feenie...

Thats rude :P
Even if your statements were backed up ,
RULE #1
1. No bashing of the show, if you're not a fan, then you don't belong here, this causes nothing but fighting.
, Thats what you are doing :/ I am a fan , and I have to say don't like every moment/every episode , but theres a difference between "My opinion on an episode" and "My opinion on the whole show"(or your bashing) , Is that why you came to this board , just to bash the show?

"I was a big BMW fan during the earlier seasons. I never really saw the newer ones until this summer. I was very disappointed, needless to say, at what the show became.
I did enjoy the finale though."
That was a quote I made in this very thread. Seems rather objective to me. I was a fan of the earlier stuff, but when I saw the newer ones from the first time, the plot inconsistency heightened and overall quality of the show decreased. If that's the equivalent of "bashing", than I would recommend looking up the definition of the word before using it.
A similar case would be I'm a huge Married with Children fan. The first 3-4 seasons included some of the best writing I had ever seen. Than Jefferson came in to replace a popular existing character (Steve), and the show tailspinned from there. I find that hard to equate with mindless bashing, and that's probably my favorite show of all-time.
Personally, I find the posters that incorporate attention to detail in their analysis show a greater passion for the show, while the zombie-like cult that enjoy everything about the show don't convey a similar passion.
gOoSe 11-22-2004, 12:19 AM originally [still on tgif originally]. when i heard Matthew Lawerence was coming on the cast i got pissed and stop watching... i hated him...at the time....
i turned back into the show, during the 'heartbreak cory' episode, and kept watching, with time - he grew on me... lol
i loved angela right away though, she was wonderful addition IMO
anyways, you could point out 1 million reasons why it "jumped the shark", but truth is, it's more likely you still have an unexplainable addition to BMW lol
AngeFaitore 11-22-2004, 03:29 PM I really enjoyed the show in it's earlier seasons before Turner left. After Turner left, it just wasn't the same.
I've watched a few of the 'senior year' episodes and the humor was rather dumb. The earlier episodes were funnier.
bmwfan4eva 11-22-2004, 03:58 PM I quit watching it during the fourth season and picked up on the 6th season and caught up with what I missed. yeah. Kinda got boring after he left.
gOoSe 11-22-2004, 05:06 PM this series ALWAYS had serious moments, it's more like a dramadie(sp?) than sitcom, certain episodes would probably of been much better had it been done as a dramedie with no audience/laugh track...
but that's just my opinion...
