According to Joey Green's "The Unofficial Gilligan's Island Handbook" and quite a few websites there were 33 episodes in the second season. Starting with ep.37 "Gilligan's Mother-In-Law" and ending with ep.69 "Up At Bat" However the professor's website has season 2 ending with ep.68 "Meet The Meteor" which concurs with the DVD release of 32 episodes.
I have to say I always thought "Up At Bat" was a third season episode but was never cetain.
Can anyone confirm which is correct.

Episode # 68 is the last episode of the second Season. It originally aired on April 28th, 1966.

Episode # 69 is the first episode of the third Season. It originally aired on September 12th, 1966.

Yeah, I didn't think that UP AT BAT aired in May 66, but on September 12th, '66, due to ther paucity of a executive producer credit (which attributed to regular secondf season director Jack Arnold, who also did some seaosn 1's, also producving those).

Only a CREATEDD & PRODUCED credit, then Ron Freidman's writer credit and Jerry Hopper's director credit.

However, as I mentioned in TEASER TROUBLE in the mid-final season episode, THE INVASION, Sherwood Schwqartz is given his standard creator title above his name PLUS, for the first time since the black-and-whites (and reprised on THE BRADY BUNCH episodes from 1970-74 after the "Created and produced by.." first season items of TBB) followed by Jack Arnold's former executive producer title!

Ex-coproducer Robert L.Rosen is now producer since THE INVASION. However, a few includng the final one, GILLIGAN THE GODDESS, still say "Cretaed and produced by SHERWOOD SCHWARTZ",and clearly the episodes were not released in sequential order

Obviously, GILLIGAN GOES GUNG HO and GILLIGAN THE GODDESS were in the can (or coconut) MANY months before they finally saw the light of day!

After all, the seeries opener, TWO ON A RAFDT was NOT the intended first (BIRDS GOTTA FLY, FISH GOTTA TALk, #12 in the series, was intended as THE first epsiode).

Air dates seem to confirm the 32 episode season argument. “Up At Bat” is probably my all time favourite episode. Hopefully with the way they’re pumping out the “Brady Bunch” seasons next year, I won’t have to wait another whole year for GI season 3.
