View Full Version : "Season 6" Demands
James 07-29-2001, 07:52 PM About the "pop-up" special effects during the beginning of the airing of Episode #98, "Adios Johnny Bravo", some of the "pop-ups" were about the kids' demands for plotlines in the future. They were the following:
1. Cindy: wanted a horse
2. Greg: wanted to get in a fight ("with him" appeared next to Mike!)
3. Bobby: wanted a steady girlfriend
4. Jan: wanted more serious plotlines
Those besides more musical episodes. (For the record 1-3 appear in _Growing Up Brady_.)
I wonder what Jan meant by "more serious plotlines"?
TV Guy 07-30-2001, 12:50 PM Teenage pregnancy maybe? Or birth control?
I wonder where the Bradys would have kept Cindy's horse. In the carport, maybe? Or if Alice had finally married Sam, I guess the horse could have moved into Alice's room.
boechsner 08-02-2001, 02:09 AM Actually those were the demands they made at the beginning of the final season, the 5th Season. Sherwood Schwartz obviously throught most of them were inane.
julian bozo 08-02-2001, 03:39 AM I think their is no way Cindy could have had a horse. There is no way they could have made it work. They could have made a episode where Cindy went horse back riding. She could have been invited by a male classmate

to go horse back riding at his parent's ranch.A female classmate who has a huge crush
on the boy becomes jealous of Cindy. On Friday afternoon as the kids get out of school She pushes Cindy in the janiter's closet. The Bradys get worried when they realize Cindy isn't home. Mean while a teacher hears banging opens the closet finds Cindy calls her house. The girl gets sent away to juvie school & ounce again has a happy ending. Also solving the problem of Cindy's horse & Jan's need for more serious plots. As for Bobby they could have made more episodes with him going out with Millicent. As for Greg they could have showed one episode were Greg in his dad got into but all was good at the end.
TVLanFan 08-03-2001, 11:53 AM Cindy having a horse absolutely could have worked...she could have kept it in that room to the left at the top of the stairs...the room we never see...along with the trampoline that they used in one episode... they could put a bucket of oats on a corner of the dining room table and the horse could have eaten with the rest of the family (except Alice, the Brady's NEVER allowed her to eat with them)...Then, after dinner, Cindy could lead the horse to the hidden bathroom (first floor, to the right of the staircase, I believe that it was used maybe in A Very Brady Christmas or something) where the horse could do it's business, and then maybe take Cindy and Bobby for a ride around the block (with Oliver running behind, demanding they let him on too, but Cindy and Bobby would just laugh at him as they ride ahead) before being led upstairs to its room. Of course, the kids would all be pretty upset that the horse has a room all to itself, but that's the way life is.
Finally (and this requires exquisite timing), Greg would wait until Oliver was going up the stairs, and then he would blow his "UFO" whistle, which would spook the horse, causing it to charge out of his room and down the stairs, thereby killing Cousin Oliver, which would allow the rest of the family to go back to the way things used to be, sans that annoying goon, Cousin Oliver... The End
BTW, what would Cindy NAME the horse? Any ideas? Kitty (after Kitty Carry All) would be to obvious...
Have a great day!!

I guess it could have worked. Altough they would have never killed off cousin Oliver like that. The network just would not allow it.
James 08-04-2001, 12:39 PM The horse could occupy the "square" in the 3x3 grid in the center of the bottom row since Sherwood Schwartz did not want Robert Reed in any episodes after the fifth season. :-)
Rubidium 08-04-2001, 10:24 PM Personally, I think instead of adding Oliver, they should have had a baby. More interesting and certainly not as annoying. Probably would have helped the ratings too.

The Bradys did have a boat, the S. S. Brady, in Episode #79, "Law and Disorder," in which Bobby is a school safety monitor. Certainly the S. S. Brady was bigger than a horse, so the question is, where did the Bradys keep the boat? (The same place could have housed Cindy's horse.) I never saw the boat in any subsequent episodes.
julian bozo 08-10-2001, 05:15 AM The boat was just in that one episode. I guess they could have made a horse work. They had a goat in the episode where Greg stold the other school's mascot.

I never saw that boat again either. Hmmmmmm, I wonder if they sanked it?

And when the theme is done, the horse could whinny, right before the action starts. The theme would have to be reworked, though, to get rid of any references to "a man named Brady", though. "A horse named Brady" just wouldn't sound the same.
TV Guy 08-14-2001, 12:17 PM I think they would have named the horse either Oliver (after their cousin and Professor Whitehead's tiki) or Raquel (after the goat and Raquel Welch, whom they mention a few times).

I thought that slot was reserved for Oliver... [ducking!]
Johnny be good! 05-04-2008, 03:24 AM There was an idea of Mike & Carol having twins, but that fell through.

That might have made an interesting alternative to Oliver.
