Taxi is one of my alltime favorite shows, but the themesong just doesn't do the series justice.

What good shows do you think had bad themesongs??

I'm glad you like "Taxi". But I LOVE the theme song. I even have it on CD. Sometimes at work, they play the theme song over the radio and I feel like I'm in an episode of Taxi. It's great.

Yeah, the Taxi theme song is great. It's the perfect example of late '70s modern jazz.

Alice. One reason because Linda Lavin couldn't sing.

I personally like the Taxi theme

Now I don't care too much for the Who's The Boss? theme song, but I do think the show is OKAY tho I don't love it like others do, but the show is so much better than the awful theme song.

I love the Gloria Loring theme song (both the "pop" seasons 2-6 version and the "80's rock" seasons 7-9 version) but I really didn't like the season 1 Charlotte Rae-sung Facts Of Life theme. I mean, she was great as Mrs. Garrett on FOL and DS, but as a singer, glass breaks.

Haha.
I liked every version of the FOL themesong (yes, even the glass breaking Charlotte Rae).... but my favorite was Seasons 7-9.

Wings. I love the show, but I've never been a fan of instrumental theme songs. I like something I can sing along to, LOL.

The theme song for Boy Meets World Season 2, it wasn't really a theme song, just like a 2 second opener :grr:

The Cosby Show theme in the final season was awful

The Wings opening in the later seasons, I hate short openings for shows

DEFINATELY.
Whereas Seasons 1-7 had great themesongs.... each one a classic.
But, its fitting, worst themesong for the worst season.

actually, the season 8 theme song was intended for season 7, I remember the opening credits (included Lisa Bonet along in the murals) when season 7 premiered in fall 1990... but Bill got in trouble or something and had to fork over money to the artists who designed the opening credit murals, so about 4 or 5 episodes into the 90-91 season, NBC went back to the season 6 theme. And then by season 8, they brought that opening sequence back, minus Bonet.

I think the first theme song was the worst, my fave is the "disco" season 2 theme and the "salsa" season 3 one.

Ohh, I hope the eventual DVD has the original openings. (now that they have the right to use the mural, I'm sure they will be)

Anyways.... my favorite TCS themesong was the one at the Apollo.

I swear, some kids prank called a friend of mine and left the SB SP theme song on her answering machine, and with 5 kids screaming the lyrics, it sounded like they were saying "burn burn witch bitch, burn burn witch bitch, hope you burn in a ditch, burn burn witch bitch", lol.

So I always associate that as the theme

8 Simple Rules - didn't really have a theme song, but the opening in the 1st season could've been better.

Cosby Show - not so much for the instrumentals and dancing

*EVERETT SLOANE: A renown andpopular meber of actor and prodcuer ORson Welles (CITIZEN KANE)'s famed Mercury odltiem radio theatre troupe (along with Wm.Johnstone and of cor8use the plump Welles himself)
**JAY LIVINGSTON: ANd if you want to hear himS ING,listen to ANY (post-early instrumental arrangement) MR>ED theme.Iiuii'm asm....mister..ed!
***PAUL HENNING:THe creator-producer of many a wacky sitcom in the oatfields.
****GILLGIAN'S ISLAND:As most just everyone today knows, the pilot had a different, calypso soudning ditty.By the samer guys IIRC (Geo.Wyle, Gerald Fried and series producer creator Sherwood Schwartz)
*****GET SMART'S IRVING SATHMARY: See, I can spell that name!
^
BATMAN: Nela Hefti wrot eh the theme but famerd award winnign arranger Nelson Riddl;e did the bakcground music which makes folks think he did the theme too., BANG! PO! DADADADA BATMAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNN!

^^NANNY AND THE PROFESSOR & SANFORD AND SON: Technically these were from the first part of a seaosn and also as a result they wrere alreayd prodcued the previous year-1969 for NatP and 1971 for Sas's first;I justg recalled MR.ED fits in that category, I should have put an annotation for that regarding its schedule-it remiered in may 1961. TThen again it was largely in 1961, not 1960 productiuon><But the others debuted in January, and were mid season replacements.
