Thanks to Nick-at-Nite for the "Pop-Up Brady's!" The VH-1 people did a great job and provided some fascinating behind-the-scenes info. Who knew the Brady kids were connected to Milli-Vanilli in a strange way (background singers for kids' music ended up one of MV's "real" singers...I hope I remembered that correctly). Can't wait for the rest of these shows!

LOL! I was cracking up at some of them!! They should have them for all the episodes... they're hilarious!

Grace: It was a swoop. And you stole my je ne sais quoi!
Hannah: I don't even know what a je ne sais quoi is! It was a flick.

I found the info interesting, but it was annoying if you were also trying to watch the episode.

The Wednesday Un Real a Thon Pop Ups are distinctly different I think from the Saturday VH 1 Pop Up Brady shows. I'll watch to be sure but another post remarked on how repetitive the Pop Ups were & it got me to thinking.
Watched some of the Nik at Nite UnReal a Thons the past week & I noticed generally they did look the same no matter if the program was Diff'rent Strokes, Andy Griffith, or Brady Bunch. Here's some Nik at Nite Pop Ups:
Sitcom Comeuppance
Wacky Misunderstanding
How Convenient
They might have been on Saturday Night as well; I'm not sure but I'd seen those above pop ups on Wednesday's BB a Thon & then saw them on Andy Griffith last night.
Anyhow I think the Saturday Brady Pop Up Videos were a special thing done by MTV or VH 1. I'm not sure, but they did look different than the Un Real a Thon pop ups done by Nik at Nite for all their weekly Sun-Fri Marathons. Can anybody remember the Saturday Pop Ups that were humorous like that Milli Vanilli one? I'll see what I can come up with & post on it later. One I especially liked was the Stock Footage auditorium (Marsha Marsha Marsha ep) & the whole "Schizophrenia" Pop Up set when Jan was worrying about her essay having the wrong score & her "inner voice' bothered her!

The Saturday Pop Up Brady's really cracked me up. Here were just a few of the more funnier ones:
1: In the scene on the patio in "Johnny Bravo ep" where Mr & Mrs B were gardening
< Pop Up. Robert Reed was in 4H Club >
Greg goes out to tell them he won't be going to college & is taking up singing.
< Pop Ups. Florence Henderson dropped out! >
< Robert Reed went to Community College? or quit http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif >
< "Greg" went to Pepperdine then went into Community Theater >
Greg says he has an appointment w/his agent & the Brady's show displeasure. Here's the Pop Ups (I'm paraphrasing but you'll get the idea):
< Studies show that 8 out of 10 women can tell what their husbands are thinking (ESP) >
<Pop Up over Mike's head> I wish Greg wouldn't go through with it
THE FUNNY PART is tied in here:
Carol: Mike I know what you're thinking!
Mike: Think I'm gonna talk to that music agent ( http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I would have added a Pop Up here that said: Brady Lecture that never panned out) for Greg goes:
Adios Johnny Bravo & tears up the contract.
< Tearing up a contract does not make it void >
2: In the show Marsha Marsha Marsha
< The only time in Brady Land this was ever said. >
Jan is adding up her essay score in her room & discovers the error, namely her score was too high. Okay. The kids come in & congratulate her BUT Jan's conscience gets to her. Watch this:
<Pop Up> Schizophrenia is manifested in the form of people hearing voices in their head! Cracked me up!!! Then the classic scene:
Jan everybody thinks you won (her "inner voice" bugging her)
<Pop Up> It is suggested that schizophrenics talk to their inner voices by psychologists.
Jan: Well everyone would be disappointed. (Talks to the "inner voice" again) I was top of the class
< Eve Plumb was an Honor Roll student >
Crazy I'm telling you! Here's some more:
Stock footage: ROTFL (The auditorium w/the clapping kids which BTW they used in other episodes)
The teacher is speaking into the mike. Meanwhile a Pop Up says:
< The mike is off! >
< This actor played a teacher in this episode >
< and this ep >
< and this ep >
< and this ep > Meanwhile shots of the actor in other eps are shown. Vintage Pop Up Video style DIFFERENT FROM NIK AT NITE INDEED! It looked a lot better. The Saturday Pop Ups did come up throughout as opposed to the UnReal a Thon ones which weren't up as ofter; however VH 1 really had the rhythm! Hope they do them every Saturday Night!
This one liked to uve got me good. You know the wood paneling in the Family Room of Brady House? Well when Jan tries out for Pom Pom girl a Pop Up comes up:
< Wood paneling on the side of the auditorium same as the Family Room paneling in the Brady House > Have mercy.
A shot of Robert Reed at the Hollywood Bowl was even shown. Guess what it pertained to? That's right the dancing of the Brady's. He went to see them perform. Cool Stuff.
Brady Mania.

The new Pop-Up Bradys will air for the next 4 Wednesdays from 9pm-10pm. Then they are repeated Saturdays at 10pm-11pm. So there are still 8 more episodes to air.

The pop-ups were ok the first time, but I found them annoying on Saturday when I was actually trying to watch the episodes.

I like the Pop-Up Brady shows. I've seen the first two, but last night was my favorite Pop-Up Brady ep. It was the one where Marcia gets Davy Jones to sing at the her prom.I haven't seen that episode in ages, so after a long day, seeing it again was a real treat. It put a smile on my face for the rest of the night.

And to think the name Davy Jones was mentioned 32 times! (Pop Up Brady counted them). Like:
Its Davy Jones!
Oh Davy Jones is coming!
Not the Davy Jones!
But that Girl song was Righeteous.
