According to numerous sources Robert Reed did not want to play Mike Brady on "The Brady Bunch" because he was more of a Shakespearean actor.

Question: What exactly is a Shakespearean actor in comparison to an actor with the role of, say, one of the Bradys?

Thoughts, anyone?

Shakespeare's drama, Bradys comedy. He was more for "dramatic" roles than comedic.

I think it was more of a tragic role. The show never made the top 10, never won any awards and was cancelled before its time. He hated it yet he was in every reunion show.

He got aids and his homosexuality was revealed.

As per his wishes, it's not mentioned on his tombstone, yet it's what he is best known for.
