View Full Version : Subways in Movies
musicradio77 10-23-2004, 10:08 PM Back in early July, we discussed about fireworks in movies. But now, we will talk about subways in movies. I was watching the special on channel 4 called "Celebrating the Subway". In the Jeffery Lyons segment they had movies in a subway theme. Here is the lists of movies that has subways on them in no particular order. This is part of the 100th anniversary of the subway.:)
1. "Saturday Night Fever"
2. "King Kong (1976)"
3. "Men in Black 2"
4. "The Seven-Year Itch"
5. "The French Connection"
6. "12 Angry Men"
7. "The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3"
8. "The Devil's Advocate"
9. "Ghost"
10. "Gloria"
11. "Extreme Measures"
12. "Carlito's Way"
13. "Cowboy's Way"
14. "The Warriors"
15. "The Money Train"

I think there's a subway scene in virtually every movie that takes place in New York.
The Clock, Splash, Speed, Serendipity, It Could Happen to You, Crocidile Dundee, Arthur...

Pentimento 10-25-2004, 10:11 AM The first two films I think of when I think of the New York City subway are fairly obscure. The Incident is a little black and white movie from 1967 that was set almost entirely on a subway train and marked Martin Sheen's film debut. Bananas is a 1971 Woody Allen film in which Sylvester Stallone had an uncredited role as a mugger on the subway.
As for Speed, I know there was a subway scene in it, but wasn't it set in L.A.?
Dr. Jazz 10-25-2004, 03:20 PM Two recent movies that featured subways are Collateral & Spider-Man 2. HBO did a film that featured 5 or 6 short-stories that took place in subways with different actors in each one (Denis Leary, Mercedes Ruehl among others) called "Subway Stories" & it was produced by Rosie Perez who also starred in one of the stories. It aired around 1997 & I taped it but don't know where the tape is now, but it's one of the best originals HBO has ever done. Has anybody else here seen Subway Stories?
