Taking a cue from Kitt with his fun and active Yankee/Sox thread, I thought I would post a Sox/Cardinal thread where each game can be discussed.

When's the game?

It says 7:35pm but that probably means like 8:10pm

Oh man, I cannot wait!

I get the paper this morning and the whole front page is all Red Sox history and about the World Series and stuff. Nothing on there was mentioned except baseball. The country could blow up and the BoSox would still be there :lol:

Springfield, being one of the larger cities in MA, is pumped. We're all absolutely wired.

The following is a quote that was written back in 1967 before, during or shortly after the Red Sox vs Cardinals World Series of that year. See if you can pinpoint the phrase they used in the piece back then that is similar to, and sums up, the Red Sox claim to fame in their appearance in this 2004 World Series.

Kelly Clarkson was awesome! Urgh I dont like the game being this close.

Boston just took an 8-7 lead. :)

I think the pitcher should have been covering first on that play. I'm not sure though because the pitcher probably had to back up home before. I'm curious about what maybe should have happened on that play.

They went into New York down 3 games to 2. They beat the Yankees in the last two games of the playoffs on the Yankees' home turf.

Last night's game was torturous. I told my husband that I'm not cut out for sports or politics, lol. Too nerve-racking.

As wins go, it was an ugly win, but a win is a win, pretty or ugly. I'll take it.

I know it can be nerve racking when your team is winning 7-2 and then of all sudden the score is 9-9-lol

It be interested to see what happens in St. Louis, when the pitcher has to hit, and Pedro is suppose to start game 3. I can't wait to watch him hit.

And Rameriz fielding last night was terrible. It is going to get worse in St. Louis, when Ortiz has to play 1st.

What if the Red Sox win the WS? What will ESPN have to talk about now? Will the Red Sox be like the New York Rangers of the NHL? Will they make the same mistake of becoming to attached to their championship players when they get old?

And how do the Cubs fans feel? They hate the Cardianls, but if the Red Sox win, then they look even worse.

Our Red Sox vs Cardinals LIVE broadcast tonight is off to a good start. James Taylor sure wasn't lip synching The National Anthem. ;)

There was a big hint in the piece that I didn't even put in it. I thought the quotations would give it away. I guess not. Anyway, this is what I meant:

"The impossible dream".:)

I thought that kind of fit into what they just did to the Yankees and what we hope they finish by winning this Series.

I haven't been watching the World Series & I know I shouldn't still be bitter about my Yankees losing to Boston last week, but I find myself STILL wanting the Red Sox to lose :seeya:

I don't really like the Cardinals either, but if you're a Yankee fan like me, you'd root for anybody over the Red Sox lol Seeing all the people in this thread rooting for the Sox only fuels my hatred of them. My only hope for next season is that maybe the Red Sox will trade a couple of their good players for some not-so-good players :lol:

Wow. I think the Cardinal's baserunning so far in this game is terrible. Twice they ran themselves into double plays when they had golden opportunities to score. Reminds me of the time Lonnie Smith of the Braves wasn't able to score on Terry Pendleton's double in the 7th inning of Game 7 in the 1991 World Series.

Three down and one to go! The Red Sox are on their way. I just can't believe this! It feels like a dream.

Pedro hit the nail right on the head in his post game interview last night. The Sox shouldn't relax and they aren't going to. I think that's what happened with the Yankees. They were ahead 3-0 in the ALCS, took it for granted, and ended up losing.

Let's say I was managing a baseball team in the playoffs. If we're ahead 3-1, or even 3-0, I would tell my players to play like we were in Game 1. Don't relax, don't slack, and be aggressive.

For those of you who didn't get the baseball photo post -- which seems to have been everyone -- that's Bill Buckner's autograph on that baseball.

Amazing and unusual enough to come back to sweep from three down, but if the Red Sox sweep the World Series on top of that, this will be one of the top three post-season miracles ever. That's just my take. It's based on nothing except my take and my long time involvement with baseball lore
