This is tough. WH is probably more hip and youth orientated, S&S is funky in its own way. How about it?

I like both theme songs, but I think that Sanford and Son is the better song. Obviously it is a matter of opinion and preference. I just like the jazz and funk aspects of the song and it seems to have a little more to it than What's Happening.

Of course they were both written by greats - Quincy Jones for S&S and Henry Mancini for WH.

I completely agree.

Sanford and Son captured the era more than WH. I think.

Since the What's Happening theme is still running around in my head after all these years and I can't remember the Sanford and Son theme for the life of me I have to vote for the What's Happening theme. Hey! Hey! Hey!:wave:

Sanford. That record actually charted on the Hot 100 and stands as a good single in and of itself. I can't imagine the WH theme playing on the radio.

I like Sanford & Son theme song better. Rap group Nice & Smooth sampled it for their song Step By Step.
