I love Elton, but nothing beats Billy Joel.

it's hard to pick, at their very best, Elton is best... but also at their very worst, Elton is the worst.

Elton John without a doubt. The music he made during his early to mid-seventies peak is some of the greatest pop music ever recorded.

Billy Joel. No doubt.

And when I say no doubt, I mean no doubt, not the band No Doubt with that Gwen Stefani chick...

Anyway, Billy Joel is better.

Has anyone ever seen them together on one of thier Face To Face tours?

I saw them at Giants Stadium a long time ago.
What a great show.

I saw the show at Giants Stadium and (I think I actually mentioned this before) Billy Joel was drunk off his ass.

As I watched it with the chick de jour (current one who would dump my ass) I noted how sloppy and weird he was acting.

Years later I read about how he said he was basically drunk that entire tour.

Anyway, I like them both, but Elton John past the 70's is pretty much crap.

I wish I could be at a Face To Face show-too expensive sadly.

No offense to Elton, but Billy, because he writes his own music AND lyrics.

OH Nuts!

I like Billy more. Every song I have heard of Billy Joel's, I like. :) I can't say the same for Elton John however. :/

I like both, but I chose Billy Joel because other than "We Didn't Start the Fire" and "Uptown Girl" I can't think of any others I despise. Elton John had more songs I hated including:

"Bennie And the Jets"
"Tiny Dancer"
"The Bitch is Back"
"Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word"
"Who Wears These Shoes"
"Wrap Her Up"
"Ego"
"Part-Time Love"
"That's What Friends Are For"
"Victim of Love"

ETC.....

I enjoy more Elton John's songs than I do Billy Joel's.

Though I enjoy Elton John's music...I prefer Billy Joel's songs more. His songs have more depth, here's some good examples....

I especially enjoy "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" since it has the concepts of The Beatles "Abbey Road Medley", Procol Harum's "Grand Hotel", 10cc's "One Night in Paris", and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Both are talented but I prefer Elton John's music a little more, I think he's a better melody writer.

Tiny Dancer & Bennie And The Jets- these songs are OK, not big favorites of mine but I don't mind listening to them once in a while.

The Bitch Is Back- this is a favorite of mine and I think it's one of his best songs.

Ego- this is a quirky song and sounds like the type of song you'd hear at a Broadway stage show.

Who Wears These Shoes- this song is good, I don't find anything wrong with it, one of the high points of the Breaking Hearts album.

The other songs you listed, I agree, I don't care for those either.
