I love Wal-Mart, but everytime I go to this particular one near where I live, these cashiers always likesto yip yap about their personal lives. I mean everytime. One time I was in a hurry coming from work, I may had two items, the lined moved until I was waited on. The cashier turned to her left, asked here co-worker what she was doing the weekend. I felt real thrown off and frustrated, so I said, " excuse me, I'm in a hurry!" So she looked at me like I offended her and got me out of there anyway. I rolled my eyes back at here just to let her know I didn't like her service. I used to work in retailing, and you could not act the way these people act. Anyone ever shared this experience?

Thats happened to me before.

But what I really hate is when i go to a fast food place and the cashier asks me for my order, and just before I tell them they walk away to go do something else. If they are not ready to take my order they shouldn't ask!

Oh, yeah! I'm always the victim of that too!

I hate it when I get into the 12 items or less lane, and half the people in front of me have 20 items in their carts.

Out of 30 registers at my Walmart; only 2 are open most of the day. You go buy one item and have to wait on 'mom' in the front with a cart full of groceries and you have no where to go.:mad:

I hope I never reach a level where I have to shop at Walmart!!

No, I just don't like the way they do business. I think some of their business decisions are unethical.

I'm fine with Target or Meijer or KMart. (well actually I don't care for KMart)

when you go to the walmart around here, the cashiers act like you are inconviencing them

Yep. People if you have 12 cans of the same thing, that's still considered 12 items. People need to pay attention to the signs.

I can't stand it when cashiers keep talking to each other or if the cashier and the bagger are talking away. If it's excessive, I calmly ask the cashier to please focus on my order. They are scanning items, which is the same as money, so I don't want them distracted.

My brother used to manage a grocery store, and he told me that chatty cashiers and baggers were the biggest front end problem in the store.

Yeah we can be. I work as a sacker right now. I try not to talk to the cashier that much. Mangement is always telling us to talk to the customers. Everytime that I try to, the customer looks at me like I'm an alien. So now, I just say hi, and sack.

I'm not harsh about it. I realize that they're human and have a right to talk to one another, within reason. What drives me crazy is when the cashier is scanning my items and going on and on about her weekend plans or whatever.

I also don't like it when the cashier is overly talkative to me. I really believe that scanning my items is the same as scanning my money, so I insist that the cashier focus on the task at hand.

That really drives me nuts too. I can't help but think, "Umm hello? Aren't I the customer here? Can't you pay just a little attention to me?" Is a little friendliness and courtesy too much to ask for?

It also bothers me when there are only two or three registers open with no less than six people in each line. How about opening another register or two? I don't usually blame the cashiers for that though. It's management's fault for not keeping enough people on.

I can't stand it when people don't use the plastic dividers to separate their groceries from yours. They just put their stuff right behind yours as if the cashier automatically knows whose groceries are whose.

Thank you for understanding that it is managements fault and not the cashier's fault. I get that command a lot. "Open another register." I let them know that this is all that we have right now. They turn around and get pissed at me? WTF? Also please stop complaining about the price of something to a sacker. It's not my damn fault about the price. Sorry I don't control the prices people.

I used to get that a lot too. Why do customers think we have more control over pricing and opening registers than we actually do? :rolleyes:

Yep. I feel like telling people that I am the lowest on the totem pole. I have no power whatsoever. Also people use your heads when looking for items. I mean I get this question at least once a day. Where's the peanut butter? I have to respond, Down the peanut butter aisle. It says peanut butter on the sign hanging over the aisle for god's sake!

I work at Shaws, usually a cashier, though sometimes I bag, and I myself am not one to talk. Every once in a while though Ill get someone to bag for me etc. and theyre the kind who talk about anything. As soon as I get to them they start yapping. I dont like it because 1.) I cant even hear them 2.) I feel as if the customer is being insulted 3.) I dont care. Its one thing to make small talk, but some people go on and on about their boyfriends and such and meangya.

To the post Georgia's on my mind, you hit it on the money. The cashiers don't seem to understand that we are paying their salary.

I love U-Scans. You don't even have to deal with the cashier then. :) Haven't tried Walmarts though. (since I'm not a Walmart fan)

I hear you ... Last weekend I went shopping with my boyfriend at his walmart.. and the cashier was a b*tch.. when she was scanning our stuff, we had juice in the cart yanno, and she spilt or opend it and splatterd all of it, pissed me off actually, then i had a soda one of them 20 oz i always get them when i go shopping, she tipped that too.. then she dont even say HI how are you or have a nice day or nothing that pissed me off.. i have a few other pple rude too ..but am not sure if its the right thread to post it so i'm not.

I hate it when I'm standing in line and somebody gets behind me with a screaming or misbehaving child and they don't do anything about it. Even worse when there's a person behind them and I'm stuck there.

I hate when I'm in line and someone comes in line with a shopping cart and they push it within an inch of me. That's just plain rude. There should be a two feet rule with regards to shopping carts.

Come to think of it, there should be a two feet rule in general. I don't need someone I don't know standing right up on me.

My 2 peeves:

1. This is mainly done by elderly women. They have a cart full of groceries and they wait for the cashier to tell them the final total before they even get out their billfold to start writing out a check. They've been standing there for 3 minutes and don't even think about starting to fill out any info on a check.

2. When people stop their cart right in the middle of an isle and walk off to go and get something at the other end of an isle!! Pull the damn cart over to one side before you walk off!! This would also apply to when people decide they need to have a full blown conversation with someone they ran into at the store!! Use a phone if you want to gossip!!!!

I've had people do this to me also. When you are trying to write out a check and someone is peeking over your shoulder. I keep my cart in between me and other people at all times now. Even when it's empty it stays in between until I am ready to leave.

As a sacker I really hate it when customers don't have enough money to pay for their crap. Guess who gets stuck putting it all back. Yep, me! How stupid can a person be to not know how much money they have to spend for groceries.

I hate when people push an empty shopping cart around the narrow isles of the store. I can't browse the DVD section without having to move to let some idiot with an empty cart walk by.

If you are not buying anything, you don't need a cart!

and why do department stores put those little round tables in the middle of an isle? Those tables are always stacked 3 feet high with something. All they do is create a traffic bottle neck.

what i cant stand is when they dont count out your change while ther handing it to you and then when you tell the them they got the amount wrong they roll their eyes at you and sigh and i have to go to walmart in the morning i hope i can get out of there in a hurry.

Meangya...One thing that frustrates me is the self-bagging counters at the grocery store that I frequent the most. Far too often, people don't put their carts away if they feel they can carry all the bags of food that they just bagged. IS IT TOO MUCH FREAKING WORK FOR YOU TO WHEEL THE STUPID CART TO THE CART AREA THAT'S JUST A MEASLY 10 FEET AWAY?! :rolleyes: One day a few months back, I went grocery shopping and I went to bag my stuff...There were like two other customers bagging their food and 2346235672457245 empty carts in front of the counters. GUH!!!!! I had to move FOUR of the carts so I could use ONE of the counters. I don't care if the clerks are going to move the carts, YOU could show consideration and put away the cart YOURSELF.

People that leave shopping carts in the parking lot REALLY annoy me...But that's another post entirely...:mad:
