I noticed that in the later Happy Days seasons, after Ron Howard and Donny Most left, Potsie was the only member of the old gang who stayed on. Although he worked at Cunningham Hardware, it seemed that his role diminished as the show focused more on Joanie and Chachi. Was Potsie really need in the later seasons or could they have written him out or even developed a spinoff for Anson Williams?

I agree, he served no purpose. Why they didn't write him out of the show after Don and Ron left... I'll never know.

they shoulda gone through with the "Ralph and Potsie" spin-off - woulda been even better than Joanie loves Chachi

After being on for seven seasons, they probably didn't want to just kick Anson off of the show. I think the way they ended up dealing with it was fine - write him into the script whenever the situation warranted.

I think that they should have put Jonathan Frakes as Potsie for seasons 8, 9 & 11. Well, it worked for Roseanne with Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke playing Becky Connor.

For that matter, THE SHOW served no purpose after Ron and Donny left - except of course to employ cast and crew. I guess a job's a job. :(

I think Potsie did only 6 or 7 episodes during the last 2 seasons though his face was on the opening credits all the time.

I honestly think that "Ralph Loves Potsie" woulda made it - they coulda had the HD cast come on regularily...

Lets see: Potsie was on Welcome home, low notes, & Fonzie's spots, Nervous Romance, there's no business like no business, I'm not at liberty, & I think empty nest in the last 2 seasons. Am I missing any others?

He was also in:

"A Woman Not Under the Influence"
"Wild Blue Yonder"
"Where the Guys Are"

I think he was in "All I want for Christmas" from Season 10 also.

He wasn't unless his appearance was edited out of the TV Land version.

A Ralph and Potsie show would have been really cool.

Last night I was watching the series finale and for the first time I really noticed that Potsie wasn't there. I could understand Ralph not being there because much earlier in the season we find out he is going to school in some other city. But when there was that speach at the end that Tom Bosley does you just kinda feel like the whole gang should be there, not just the family and Fonzie.
