anyone else going to see this?
I love Sarah Michelle Gellar, so I'm there even if it looks like a ripoff of The Ring

View Full Version : The Grudge Dean Winchester 10-20-2004, 04:06 PM anyone else going to see this? I love Sarah Michelle Gellar, so I'm there even if it looks like a ripoff of The Ring Liza 10-20-2004, 04:10 PM I saw the original Japanese version when I was in London. It scared the cr@p out of me  I have no idea who that Irish girl was that was sitting next to me, but we kept jumping into each other's laps - it was that scary. I think I'm gonna see this. Maybe I'll understand the ending better. Brian 10-20-2004, 04:10 PM I am going to see it eventually. I don't know if it will be in a theater or not. Brian 10-21-2004, 05:55 PM It doesn't seem to be popular at Rotten Tomatoes. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/grudge/ Jason_Voorhees13... 10-22-2004, 12:32 AM Originally posted by Brian It doesn't seem to be popular at Rotten Tomatoes. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/grudge/ I just sgined up for Rotton Tomates right now in fact I am going to my e mail and get my password and name. I am going to see the Grudge tomarrow. Dean Winchester 10-22-2004, 08:36 PM it was OKAY. but nothing extraordinary They really hyped it as Sarah's movie, when she only appears in about 50% of it. Jason Behr is second billed and is only in it for 10 whole minutes Nighthawk76 10-22-2004, 09:07 PM Sarah said in an interview that from a technical aspect, that the film was like Brian De Palma in his early days. This makes me very interested in seeing this film. LucyCompanyPhan 10-22-2004, 09:48 PM I'll probably be seeing this tomorrow. I'm hoping its decent enough. It will be no ring though thats for sure. AllIWantIsYourClutch 10-23-2004, 08:07 PM I really want to see it. And Rosa Blasi is in it, which is a plus cause I like her and she's only been in like one movie ever. Hollow 10-23-2004, 08:49 PM looks interesting. i won't see it though, i'm too much of a *****. TheGreatPretender 10-23-2004, 09:10 PM That little Asian boy is ****ed up. I am Him 10-23-2004, 09:42 PM Ebert and Roeper gave it 2 thumbs way down. Liza 10-23-2004, 10:58 PM Originally posted by I am Him Ebert and Roeper gave it 2 thumbs way down. That surprises me. The Japanese version was really, really good. Apart from the fact that this is a totally unnecessary remake (which we ought to be used to by now) I wonder why they gave it that bad of a rating. Maybe it's just not as scary. LucyCompanyPhan 10-24-2004, 12:39 AM a big thumbs down from me. It did have its cliched scary moments but the plot itself wasn't anything too original and the ending left too many unanswered questions. Its fun for halloween but its not entertaining like The Sixth Sense or The Ring. Rhiannon 10-24-2004, 10:04 AM Originally posted by AllIWantIsYourClutch And Rosa Blasi is in it, I didn't know that. I want to see it even more now! Dean Winchester 10-24-2004, 02:16 PM the big problem with the movie is that there's too much unanswered questions. I mean, in "The Ring" there was at least some resolutions. SPOILER SPACE: if you read on, it's your fault like for instance, what became of the husband/father who caused the evil ghosts in the first place. Why wasn't there resolution to this? like SMG fighting the ghost (she's done it many times on Buffy) the ending, does she die or what? or does the director expect this movie to make tons of money and he can make a sequel, therefore he can actually go into this backstory and reasoning that was left out of this one???? and I just knew Jason Behr was going to be a dumbass and go into the house. ok, you're safe now USTVFanFromUK 10-24-2004, 05:50 PM The head of Sony said there's a sequel is in the works as we speak. He also said he expected the movie to make $20 million in its opening weekend but was more than thrilled when it opened with $40 million. *Marilyn Monroe* 10-25-2004, 07:20 PM Rosa's in about 2 minutes of the movie. If that. Originally posted by BuffySlayer79 SPOILER like for instance, what became of the husband/father who caused the evil ghosts in the first place. Remember the thumping sound, when they flashed to him seeing all of those pictures of Peter? Well, that was his legs hitting the wall, after he hung himself. Safe.....sorry lol. I was thinking that was the detective whose legs were hitting the wall, since he'd walked into the house withthe gasoline right before Jason Behr went in. k *Pleasant Tomorrow* 10-29-2004, 10:34 PM Originally posted by skyhigh25789 That little Asian boy is ****ed up. lol, I thought he was cute when he wasn't all...ghost like I didn't like the movie too much. theanswerman 10-30-2004, 09:11 AM ifyou are planning on seeing, don't. it was such a ripoff of the ring (which sucked as well). especially the ending, with the mother crawling down the stairs. it sucked, everyone in the theater was laughing. TheGreatPretender 10-31-2004, 12:50 AM I hate horror movies period, they just make me more depressed and scared. I guess I'll never understand why anyone likes being scared. The only horror movie I ever watched was Carrie because the way they set it up it sounded like a drama to me and I like Sissy Spaceck. |
