View Full Version : Whatever happened to Fluffy?
Becky W 02-02-2001, 12:49 AM What happened to the cat (I think it's name was Fluffy) that Mrs. Brady and the girls had as a pet before the Bradys got married? I remember in the episode where they got married, the dog was chasing the cat, but I don't remember any other episodes with Fluffy in them.
Lance Link 02-03-2001, 01:43 AM The pilot episode aired in March,1969 and at that time nobody had any idea the show would be picked up by ABC or the other two for that matter . When it was picked up six months later, no Fluffy and the name was never mentioned again. It was as if Fluffy never existed.
Mark J. Cuccia 02-04-2001, 10:26 PM I THINK there were a few first season episodes (VERY FEW from what I remember) where Fluffy is in the episode, or at least mentioned... Carol and Mike telling people that they have three girls, three boys, a housekeeper, a dog and a cat.
As the series continued on, you didn't even see the dog Tiger that much. I guess that the family dog wasn't considered as important as the "inter-personal human relations" stories in the episodes.
Pets seem to have been quite popular on 1950's/60's family sitcoms ("Smilie", Harold Baxter's dog on Hazel; "Tramp" on My Three Sons), but I guess the importance or dependence on them dwindled throughout the 1970's. You see "Tramp" quite frequently on M3S during its B&W years and the first few color seasons, but rarely is Tramp seen or mentioned towards the end of the series.

jeff of nc 03-24-2001, 02:11 PM Wanna hear my erudite theory? http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Fluffy was eaten. Ew Gross!!!
Wait a minute LOLs.
A pitbull or German Shepard might have got to her while he was at Grandma's.
Being that the Brady's lived near the ocean, they might have had a burial at sea. TV shows in the 70s had very little intimate discussions about sex & stuff (Brady fans know that the Brady Bunch had no toilet! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif) so that's why Fluffy "didn't exist" after 1st eps.
What about Grandma & Grandpa you might ask. Except for a special ep where Reed & Florence play dual characters, they were never mentioned. Well, its simple.
You don't take cameras, film crew, etc. with you when you visit your grandpa do you?
That was easy.
Oh, I Love the Brady Bunch!
Fluffy left the show to star in Benji movies. However, Fluffy and Benji had salary disputes so Fluffy quietly retired from showbiz.
sami dg 03-28-2001, 11:32 PM My theory is that Fluffy had creative differences with Tiger and those irreconcilable differences led to Fluffy leaving the show. Tiger was so distraught over Fluffy leaving him that he went into a state of depression. He later ran out in front of Jan's bicycle when she wasnt wearing her glasses and died instantly from the impact. The news was so disheartening that Jan ( always being the schemer she was)secretly buried Tiger in the back yard and it was always believed he just dissapeared ....hence his dissapearance from the show. This is just my theory mind you....lol.
TV Guy 04-20-2001, 03:27 PM I understand that Fluffy was really unhappy with the sub-par scripts, and who could blame her? When Fluffy found out that the producers were going to turn her hair orange by having Bobby spill hair tonic on her, she stormed off the set, never to return. That episode was rewritten so the hair tonic wound up on Greg (and later on Romeo and Juliet, the rabbits). I believe this is also why Robert Reed doesn't appear in this episode -- he wanted to show some solidarity with Fluffy.
Me,Myself and I 04-20-2001, 08:08 PM The origional Tiger got run over by a car. So he was replaced by another dog (if you look you notice that he goes from grayish to brownish) but the new dog wasn't answering to the name Tiger so they fired him and Tiger disappeered.

I just always figured that since Fluffy and Tiger didn't get along, Fluffy stayed right where she was, at the grandparents' house.
needles1987 02-28-2008, 01:50 PM I always thought Fluffy stayed with Carol's parents.

So did I... Then the parents disappeared.
