How come Garry Marshall's sitcoms crossed over and Norman Lear's didn't? Anyone knows?

All in the Family spun-off Maude and The Jeffersons, so that could be considered crossover. Maude spun-off Good Times, but they never really had a strong connection to each other like AITF had with M and TJ.
