If Aunt Esther was so religious, why was she married to a wino?

Wasn't there an episode, perhaps the one where Esther and Woody are trying to adopt Daniel, where Esther laments "Why does he drink so much?", and Fred tells her if he was married to her, he'd drink, too.

Mooseface, Esther was anti-booze, though.

Look at what Esther looked like and consider her personality, she may not have had that many options for men to be frank about it. That pairing is not too unrealistic actually. I've seen married coupled who were similar to them.

Many Christian people I know have spouses that are not very Christian-like. I have never pried into why they married. One lady I know got saved after she married. She seemed very dedicated to her beliefs but her husband would have no part of it. Many husbands 'tag-along' with their wives to church on occassion even though they have no interest in Christianity. Perhaps Esther became the woman she is after she married. After all she dated B.B. King before Woodrow came along. Maybe she was young and foolish and thought she could "change Woodrow."

Esther also let Big Money Grip sneek into her room late one night and have his way with her. So i guess she was'nt pure as the driven snow either.
