Something I have notced a long time ago. In spite of all of the criticism that the show gets, I believe that people are more accepting of a female Full House fan as opposed to a male Full House fan. I have gone on other sites, mentioned that I like Full House, and I have been incorrectly labeled with every homophobic slur in the book because of it. My own mother and I have had big fights about Full House. She insists that I should have 'outgrown children's shows' by now, but since I consider this big talk from someone who collects stuffed bears and still watches Scooby Doo cartoons, I am convinced that she is more concerned that she might have a 'queer' for a son.

Anyone else here been labeled as something they're not because of Full House?

I've been told I was childish, but I'm female. I used to make my ex-boyfriend watch it with me sometimes...he hated the show. I do know a few guys that will watch it though.

But it's not just Full House. I enjoy 80's sitcoms over any other shows. And most of the people I talk to say they don't like them because they're cheesy and childish. I don't think so. Yeah, they're a little cheesy sometimes, but that's because they're family shows. I don't care. I'd much rather watch shows that are family oriented than shows that are primarily based upon sex and appeal.

:yeahthat I love more 80's sitcoms than any others. Yeah they're cheesy, but IMO they're timeless, and are some of the best out there compared to nowadays.

I still watch cartoons, and I know most of my family loves Full House, they don't care that most people might consider it a "kids" show, cause to them it's entertainment.

That's just sad :( Have you gently pointed that out to your mother? That she has no room to talk cause she collects stuffed animals and still watches cartoons? I bet she'd be surprised how alot of FH fans are in their 20's and older.

I like "Full House" but I also like "Match Game" (which is second to my show) and "The Price Is Right".:) "Full House" is just entertaining as well.

Some people have critized me for liking Full House, but my parents don't think it's weird, they like it.

I no matter how old you are, if you female or male, or anything like that, you can like any show you want. Even if it's a really childish show, I mean, if you like it, watch it.

How interesting how you brought up the "gender biased" topic because I am taking a Gender in Sociology course this semester. It's very interesting because I have learned *so* much about how society labels even media.

All in all and no matter what society as a whole labels as the "norm" of masculinity and femninity, I don't think anyone should change their TV show hobbies (or anything else for that matter) just because of anything. The way I see it, if people enjoy something just stick with it. :)

It stems mainly from many people who keep insisting that the Tanner guys were secretly gay. This in my opinion makes no sense, especially if you have actually watched the show. They may have fit the stereotypes very well, but at the end of the day Danny and Joey dated women and Jesse was married to Rebecca.

My point is that gender based stereotyping is wrong ON BOTH SIDES! You constantly hear about how girls get stereotyped in our society, but the fact is that it happens both ways. All four Golden Girls lived together, and I don't think I have ever heard anyone label them as lesbians.

hmm that's interesting. my mom likes full house, not exactly it's hugest fan,but she likes it. and i dont think its a kid show at all. it's a great family show with good family values. which is seriuosly really saying something, coming from me. becasue i believe i ahve mentioned this somewhere here, before, but i am part of a divorced family, and all my life i have wished that i could have the type of family, my friends have, with parents who are together. and when i first discovered full house, last year, it changed my life. it gave me a whole, entirely new view of my own family, and the position i live in, currently. it helped me learn to accept what i have, and learn to like it. now every night, when i watch full house, i feel like i am part of their family, the type of family that i ahv dreamed of all my life. so that's why i consiter full house to be a good, motivationa, family show, that's funny and enjoyable. i only wish it hadnt taken me so damn long to discover it. it makes me feel good about myself.

now i really dont know, nor understand why a lot of people would compare between a girl full house fan and a boy full house fan, becasue to me they are all the same, i mean who cares about gender, all fans are people and should be accepted no matter what.

now i acually havent told many people that i like full house, believe it or not, out of fear of the responses, but i really dont care, eaither way. my best friend likes full house, dispite that fact that she lacks cable and can't watch it, and we are content with that. another, a guy friend of mine i will admit i was informed by my best friend was shocked to find out i like full house, but dont let that intinidate your thoughts becasue that is coming from a guy who gets shocked at the littlest things i say, mostly becasue he doesnt know me.

so i really don't get why there is an issue between guy and girl fans becasue we are all fans, and that is all that should matter. casue we are all different in our own ways. i happen to be a girl, but i absoutley appal at the idea of wearing dresses, and makeup, unless it's a special occation. in fact i am more of the leather jacket and jeans type, like jesse.

ok, so i was thinking about my above statement about how i don't tell a lot of people that i am a fan about full house. first of all, i don't really care to annouce it anyway, and like i said above, it makes me alittle nervous to think about the responces. i mean i was alittle nervous to tell my best friend at first, and when i did i was shocked beyond belief to find out that she acually knew what it was, as well, seeing as she doesn't like cable. and she also, unlike anyone esle i know would, finds it cute and funny, that i am totally in love with the first season jesse. and that amkes me feel comfortable.

so who really cares about your gender, all that matters is that you are a fan. but i would how ever like to request of the starter of this topic, that they give a little more explination on the fan gender issue, becasue this is the first time i am hearing of this and it has my curiousity.
