It hurts. It huuuuuuurts. I got my wisdom teeth taken out about 4 hours ago and the novacain is starting to wear off. My lips, tongue and chin are completely numb though. Figures it couldnt go back to where it hurts lol. It feels weird to swallow. Oh, and I have like 7484832 pieces of gauze taped to my arms and hands because it took them 25 min. to find a vein for the IV. I swear I am not exaggerating - it took that long! Meangya there were 3 D.A's and the dentist and they ket switching arms, then going back.. then theyd try the hand, then the other, then theyd go up past my wrist.

When they woke me up I was all :rofl::rofl::rofl::crazy: and they kept telling me to keep it down because there was another patient in the other room lol. I seriously felt drunk and had no idea what the hell I was doing, nor could I barely talk. Oh.. and then one of the D.A's came in to change my gauze and she told me not to laugh and stuff because I was pushing it forward so my mother jokingly said "Oh, lets put duct tape over her mouth!" and the D.A is all... "THIS IS YOUR CHILD! I OUTTA TURN YOU INTO SOCIAL SERVICES!!!"

hehe. I remember talking to a friend of mine after she had her wisdom teeth removed. She was still under the influence of anesthetics. She was acting a little strange..but I guess her mom took her to Dairy Queen right afterward, and she was just staring at people trying to talk to her, cause she was so loopy. Haha.

I have to have my wisdom teeth taken out next month. :mad: :( :mad: :( :mad: :(

I hated getting mine out. The vicodin didn't do a damn thing for me. The funny thing is that I started reading a book right after I woke up from it. :)

oh man I loved getting my wisdom teeth out. I'm probably the only person on this planet who has ever said that, but the laughing gas... oh my God. There's nothing like it. And the Percoset... it's just plain great. I'd do it over again if I had to.

I had mine out almost 10 years ago, I wasn't in too much pain afterwards cause of the painkillers, I hated the stitches I had to keep in my mouth. The stitches were the kind that would dissolve away after so long(a couple weeks)

I'm surprised you have enough strength to be typing at the comp 3 hrs later. When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I was weak and out of it for about three days, I had them taken out when I was seventeen

So far, the dentist believe I may be one of the few to not have to have 'em removed, at least by necessity....

Anyways, Crystal... sounds like you had one hell of a trip! That is freaking rough about the vein--would have ticked me off. When I have mine taken out, I want to be awake, because I only have one wisdom tooth. Didn't they give you any good drugs to take for the next few days or so?

And am I the only one that was not affected by laughing gas? It just felt like I was asleep with my eyes open for some of it but the only thing keeping me from feeling anything was novacaine. :grr: And it makes me feel like my hands fell asleep with all pins and needles. I pretty much remained sane except when I went to the recovery room to lay down the oral surgeon went to shake my hand I stuck my foot out at him. .... :ducky:

Yah I was really loopy after so I went to bed right away. At first the pain had be reduced to tears, but its getting better. Doesnt really hurt so much now, just really uncomfortable.

Uh, I didnt get any painkillers because Im stupid and didnt take any $$$ out ahead of time, and I didnt feel like going to the bank to take out money. Not to mention I ran out of checks, and I didnt get my new ATM card sent. LOl figures. But Im just gonna take Ibuprofen, it really doesnt hurt that much. But damn, I havent opened my mouth since I got out like 12 hours ago.

Ugh yeah those 25 min. were a pain. Im afraid of needles, but not when it comes to the IV and stuff like that, if he had been given me shots.. that wouldve been a different story. The lady gave me some nitrous oxide to calm me down, and after a while it felt like the thing around my nose was tightening up, but it was just my mouth going numb :lol:. What hurt more was when he kept flicking and smacking my arm and hand to get a vein to pop. Meangya!:mad:

I just could not fathom that the lady would actually say that to your mom about "child services"... not to mention, not understanding your mom's joke in the first place. :cuckoo

Hmm, I thought it was standard to give out narcotics after wisdom tooth surgery. I'm glad the pain is getting better though. The whole wisdom tooth ordeal SUCKS. I don't want to go through it this year!

Hmm.. I dunno, guess its not around here. Though I wish he had given me atleast 1 or 2 pills just to take later on. I just took some Ibuprofen with some Jello so hopefully thatll kick in soon. Im starving now. I WANT EZ MAC.

And its funny, I dont even remember falling asleep. Everyone told me they have you count back from 100... evidently I fell asleep before I had the chance too. Next thing I know, Im awake all numb and :rofl:. I asked about 40 times.. 'are they out' and then Id be all.. AYYY *thumbsup* and I kept asking and asking and my mother was like.. Oh God.. I have to drive home 2 hours with this -.- lol.

I was supposed to just get twilight sleep, but I freaked before they had a chance to do anything. So, I had to go back and have them knock me out.

The worst thing about the whole experience was being nauseous from the anesthesia. There really wasn't too much pain for me, I remember only needed tylenol and it lasted a day at the most.

Ugh yah they told me that. Theyre all.. no eating 8 hours prior.. itll make you sick! Meangya I didnt get sick at all. Not that Im disappointed or anything, but it wouldve been nice to have a little something this morning.

It's sedation. You're not completely under but you're not gonna feel anything they're doing. I've had that for something else and I hated it. I'd rather be out during any kind of surgery.

They told me that too about eating. I didn't eat before and still felt sick.

I remember when two of my sisters had their wisdom seeth out. I'm never going to have them out because I won't grow any. :D

I feel for you, though. :(

They dont hurt anymore today.:D I can still feel them and its a little uncomfortable, but the pain is gone. Cant really eat or talk, but thats ok. Didnt need the meds after all.

Well that's good, I'm glad the pain is gone.

Ugh, They gave me an IV for something then, I don't remember what, wasn't to knock me out though. The stupid needle fell out and my hand filled up with fluid.

It only took them two times to get the IV in when they were taking out my wisdom teeth. When I had to have jaw surgery later on in the year, it took them way too many times! Thank god they gave me some sort of drug to relax me. I do remember them asking me if I was an intraveinous drug user. I was like uh, no!

Ugh, I had jaw surgery also. A year after my wisdom teeth came out. The day I was getting discharged from the hospital, the nurse came in to take out my IV and because it was in my hand, it really hurt. She had a hard time taking it out for that reason.

The morning after my surgery I asked if they would take it out. It seemed like every time that I would inhale or exhale, I could feel the IV needle move. It hurt a lot! Why did you have to get jaw surgery? I needed it because my bottom jaw didn't align with my top jaw at all.

Ugh, I hated that tube in my nose, especially when they took it out, that hurt my throat.

Yeah it hurt when they took it out for me also. I don't regret having the surgery though. My mom had it done when she was 40, and soon after we found out that I would need it done too. I was 16.

My wisdoms (or lack of) dont bother me anymore, though the cheeks I can feel where they had pressure on them, and the rest of my teeth are bothering me. Ive barely moved my mouth in 2 days and am only eating soft liquidy foods, so theyre getting sore because Im not using them. Im trying to do mouth exercises so I can start eating solids asap. :D

Me neither, It really was the best thing I did. I was 19 when I had mine. Don't really remember too much about the ICU, I was really out of it until they took that thing out of nose.

My throat was only sore for a moment and it went away after I had a little water.

I hear ya, If I ever have to have surgery again, they're not putting those up my nose.

I think when you have the surgery, they use the tubes to keep you from getting sick. That's what they told me.
