Okay, I admit I LOVED IT when Wil Estes did pushups with his shirt off (if my husband reads this he will KILL me). But apparently that and Campbell Soup's contest weren't enough to keep the water from leaking into our AD boat.

Here is the report from tv.zap2it.com:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
CBS began the night in first with the 8.2/14 for "60 Minutes." The end of FOX's NFL coverage and the beginning of the baseball playoff game between the Dodgers and Cardinals averaged a 7.6/14 for FOX. "Dateline NBC" did a 5.2/10, comfortably beating ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos" and "Steve Harvey's Big Time" on The WB.

At 8 p.m. "Cold Case" kept CBS on top with a 10.0/15. ABC grabbed second with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" which went from a 7.4/12 in its first 30 minutes to a 9.2/14 in its second half. FOX baseball dipped to third. On NBC, "American Dreams" had a 4.5/7 for fourth, as "Charmed" was fifth with a 2.9/5 for The WB.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Do you see that Dateline 5.2/10?
I keep fearing they will extend Dateline (which someone pointed out is less expensive to film) back to 2 hours. It keeps beating us and we keep sinking.

Could NBC sell AD to the WB and have the actors take pay cuts to keep it on the air?
Just an idea. I don't want to lose it.
But we started out with a 9+ for the premier, fell to an 8+ the next week, and now we hit 7.
We are losing a milion viewers a week.
If we go below 6 next week, I'M GONNA CRY and tear my hair out.

Someone please analyze this different than me and make me feel better, .........please.

Peace.

Well, it wasn't last place and with baseball playoffs going to end in a few weeks AD will move up.
Baseball is grabbing viewers and once there is none that should help. And all of NBC's shows are showing a decline in ratings, not just AD. It's everything from Joey to Lax.

I don't think anyone should freak out until baseball's over, and November sweeps are in full swing. With what AD has planned for November the ratings really should go back up. They've always been slow at the start, but once they get swinging into the season the ratings climb.

Your right baseball is screwing with everything.....North Shore and MADtv are not having new eppys until the playoffs are done........

North Shore was put on hold until the playoffs end...The Oc is not retuning until November 4th.......Even rating for wbs best shows like One Tree Hill and 7th Heaven are dipping I think...

Jack and bobby are dipping......MADtv is showing reruns until the damn baseball is over.....So everything is being screwed not just AD your right abc......

I don't know what the other person said I don't see their posts no big deal....Anyway Baseball stinks.......Mel :)

Baseball is why Fox is holding back The OC and Simpsons and all their shows. ABC pulled back on King of Queens because of baseball also.

Until the playoffs are over and all the shows are back into normal timeslots, the ratings will be skewed.

I asked for analyzation that would make me feel good. So far, it is not working.

Baseball to blame? The shows we are going against NOW are the same shows in place before and after baseball.

Starts slow and goes strong in Nov.?
Remember last year? We had maybe 2 shows air the end of Nov. thru Jan. No Christmas special and no shows the whole month of Dec.

And Dateline got over 40% more viewers than us this last week.
Still the risk of Dateline getting extended to 2 hours, in my opinion.

We have to do something.

Time will tell.

Peace.

Yes, and after November the ratings picked up. So much so, that in Januray AD and Las Vegas were the first 2 shows picked up for a 3rd season.

I don't really understand how to read the numbers. When you say that AD had 4.5/7, what does that mean? To me, it means that 4.5 of every 7 households was watching it, which I guess isn't correct, because that would technically be a better number than something like 5.5/10. Can someone please explain it to me?

Thanks.

To address two previous posts:
FIRST:
A 4.5/7 means a "4.5 share" whatever that is, but the 7 means 7 million viewers. This is the one that has gone down 1 million for each of the last 3 weeks for us and scares me.

SECOND:
Someone wrote:

No, I don't remember the ratings going up. There were maybe 2 shows shown in Dec. and Jan. TOTAL and everyone was concerned that meant cancellation (especially after the episodes were cut from 22 to 15 in October or Nov.)
ONLY because.....and I stress ONLY because Mr. Zucker likes the show was it picked up. And that was in January. The year before it wasn't comitted to until July.
Why comit in January? Who knows, some think marketing.

Dateline goes against the hardest competition........60 minutes.......and outdoes us by a whopping 40+%

For us to complain about baseball or other shows shows immaturity.

I consider our show to be a "WB" type show (appealing to the younger generation, hence, the Campbell's soup contest) and for a "WB" show our numbers are great. That is why I suggested the actors take pay cuts and sell the show to WB. My husband thinks I'm being unrealistic, but that is the only way I see this show continuing amidst declining viewership.

Peace.

the World Series is Next Tuesday I hear so baseball will be over.......

When I was in NYC with my mom on Sunday we were walking passed a bar by where my brother dorms for NYU and there was some Boston Red Sox fans saying crap to Yankee fans passing by.......I think they were just drunk and being annoying jerks......

I don't mean to go off topic.......But there's really nothing else to say about AD until we see this Sunday's Episode......Looks good.......Mel :)
