View Full Version : What is Your All Time Favorite Episode?? CarJackSnyder 10-09-2004, 06:08 PM post your favorite episode slackermonkey 10-10-2004, 11:38 PM There's absolutely no way I can pick just one. I'm listing all the ones I can think of. I'm bored, dammit! :p It's long, so BEWARE. The One With George Stephanopoulos Probably the best episode that divides the guys and the girls into two separate storylines. I actually enjoy the girls' a little more than the guys' ("Who's George Snuffleupagus?" "That's Big Bird's friend.") The One Where Underdog Gets Away The beginning of the traditional "Friends" Thanksgiving episode. This one is my absolute favorite, and not just because it came first. It really hits what the core of the show is about, how these friends are each other's new family. The One With the Stoned Guy Just Ross and Joey dirty talking is enough for me. Jon Lovitz is actually funny here, too. "Steve blazed up a doobie. Weed, hemp, ganja!" The One With Two Parts The first two-parter and the introduction of Ursula (on "Friends," anyway). The running gag with the TV stuck on SAP, Monica and Rachel switching identities, Ross freaking out about having a kid... lots of great moments here. The One With All the Poker The first 'everyone in one room the whole 30 mins' episode. The girls learning poker is hilarious, and Phoebe utters one of my favorite lines of hers in this episode. "Hello kettle, this is Monica. You're black." The One Where Rachel Finds Out I love this episode, not because it's when the Ross & Rachel story really started going somewhere, but because of how damn funny it is. Ross's picture ("I am your father!"), Chandler trying to cover for blowing the secret, Joey's fruit basket loving girlfriend... I love it. "Monica, if you want the rest of my date, I'm not gonna finish it." "He's not a sandwich." The One Where Ross Finds Out Aside from "TOW the Fake Party" and the Rachel pregnancy storyline, Rachel's drunken dinner date is Jennifer Aniston's finest moment on the series. ("Okay, you're being a little weird about your phone.") And I always get chills down my spine during the Ross & Rachel fight and kiss at the end, no matter how many times I see it. Perfectly staged and acted. The One After the Super Bowl Even though it was basically an excuse to drag about 13 different guest actors through the same episode, it's still pretty funny. Phoebe's songs to the children, Monica & Rachel's catfights over Van Damme, Chandler stuck in the bathroom stall, it's great. The One With the Prom Video Again, not just because it's primarily a Ross & Rachel episode, but because it's so memorable and funny. It's probably the most famous "Friends" episode. Yay for Fat Monica! The One With Two Parties Some great farcical comedy here, mostly between Ross and Dr. Green. "Are those my cigarettes?" "Yes, I was just moistening the tip for you." The One Where No One's Ready The show's tribute to "Seinfeld," and it's obvious. I really wish the show had attempted to do more real-time episodes, but that would have drawn more criticism for being a "Seinfeld" ripoff (I always felt it was closer in tone and spirit to "Cheers," but whatever). The One With Frank Jr. Frank Jr. himself I never particularly cared for, but I love Ross's freebie list and meeting Isabella Rosselini. "See, we have this list of famous people we want to sleep with, and you're on mine so I'm allowed to have sex with you." The One With the Flashback It always amazes me how, even though this episode was in season 3, the actors were able to get back into their season 1 interpretations of the characters. Anyway, I love this one mostly because of Joey meeting Monica for the first time (and stripping of course), Phoebe sneaking in and out of the apartment each day so Monica doesn't realize she moved out, Ross finding out Carol's a lesbian ("Apparently it's not a mix-and-match situation") and Joey and Chandler bonding for the first time over "Baywatch." The One With the Football A rare chance to see everyone doing physical comedy the whole episode. I love Rachel never getting to play ("Where'd you get that pretzel?" "I went really long.") and Joey & Chandler fighting over the Dutch girl ("Holland loves Chandler!") The One Where Monica and Richard are Friends How lovable is Joey when he's reading Little Women? (And I say this as a straight guy, really.) This is also a great moment for Monica - I really wished they could have dropped the Richard storyline here instead of dragging it back up for the proposal episode, but whatever. The One With the Morning After Seriously, what "Friends" fan has watched this episode and never at least welled up? Still, I'm glad it never got too dramatic - the other four providing commentary on the breakup from the bedroom is great. The One With Chandler in a Box I always loved the Kathy storyline because it was one of the few times when Joey & Chandler got a more dramatic storyline together, but this one really provides the funny too. Monica has probably her most memorable line in this episode - "Judge me all you want, but married a lesbian, left a man at the altar, fell in love with a gay ice dancer, threw a girl's wooden leg in the fire, lived in a box!" The One With Phoebe's Uterus Pretty much Ross's speech at the museum cafeteria and Monica teaching Chandler about erogenous zones is enough to make this one a winner. The One With the Embryos Well okay, I changed my mind. THIS is the most memorable "Friends" episode. So memorable everyone here knows it and therefore it's useless to comment on it. The One With the Fake Party Is it just me, or does Rachel channel Rebecca Howe in this episode? Rachel at her pathetic and funniest in this episode, and I love the Spin the Bottle scene. The One With the Free Porn I actually know people who have said "Thank you" in response to "I love you." But it's never been as funny as it is here. Also: Relaxi-Taxi! The One With All the Wedding Dresses This episode probably has the greatest girls' storyline in the history of the series. "I hate being in my regular clothes now. I look down and realize this isn't gonna be the most special day of my life." The One With Ross's Wedding London, baby! Need I say more? Also, the last scene between Ross & Rachel makes me shed a tear or two. Okay, manly tears. The One Hundredth Probably Phoebe's finest moment on the show. Who can forget the doctor who loves Fonzie, or "Kidney stooooones!" The One With All the Resolutions Just watching Ross wrestle with his leather pants makes watching this episode worth it. The One Where Everybody Finds Out The best farce comedy episode this show ever did (they never did many either, what a shame). It makes me sad that Will & Grace tried to rip this off with the "They don't know we know they know we know!" stuff. The One With the Cop One word: "PIVOT!" The One Where Ross Can't Flirt I don't know why more people don't mention this episode. Aside from being another 'everyone in one room the whole time' episode, it's got some funny moments, like Chandler singing The One in Vegas Ross & Rachel pranking each other on the plane is hilarious, as is Monica & Chandler shoplifting for their Vegas marriage and Phoebe vs. the lurker. I just wish I could do without the hand twin stuff. The One Where Joey Loses His Insurance Another hilarious episode that never gets the credit it deserves. Joey doing several auditions with a hernia so he can get his health insurance back? Ross, Monica and Rachel and the fake accents? Phoebe thinking she has one week to live? The One on the Last Night This could have been a super-emotional episode, and I'm glad they more than balanced it out with the comedy moments. Monica and Rachel never fought better in this episode than they do here. The One Where Ross Got High I always though this episode was merely okay until it got into Ross telling his parents he got high and everyone eating the trifle. Then it provided some of the funniest moments ever on the show. "Ross got married in Vegas and divorced... AGAIN!" The One That Could Have Been I used to hate this episode because it was the cliche "what if?" episode, until I realize it's actually really funny. The One Where Ross Dates a Student Another sleeper hit, with the apartment swapping and Chandler's multiple lunch dates with his college friend. Ross dating Elizabeth was always blah, but everything else made it worth it. The One Where Ross Meets Elizabeth's Dad Just thinking of Ross having to meet the girlfriend's father and it turning out to be Bruce Willis makes me laugh. The whole dinner scene at the end is hilarious, and it has one of the best zingers at Ross dating a 20-year-old: "Wait a minute. You mean YOU'RE not Elizabeth's father?" Also, Joey's robot sidekick on his sitcom pilot. The One With the Proposal Whatever happened to the S.S. Mr. Bowmont? It only came back one more time and we never saw it again. Does Joey even have it in L.A.? I miss that thing. Oh yeah, and there's some cute Monica and Chandler stuff in this episode. The One With Monica's Thunder This episode had very little plot, but it was one of the funniest episodes I've seen in awhile, and it was so smart to follow up the emotional proposal episode with a simple comedy episode like this one. Ross's hands, Joey trying to look 19 ("'Sup with the whack PlayStation 'sup!") and Chandler can't get it up. The One With the Holiday Armadillo Compared to the rest of the somewhat crappy season 7, there's nothing better than the sight and sound of Ross as the Holiday Armadillo. The One Where They All Turn Thirty I never really liked how they kept cutting back and forth between the birthdays instead of showing just one sequence all the way through, then moving on to the next, but this is still a bright spot in season 7, especially Monica's and Ross's birthdays. The One With the Cheap Wedding Dress The insult exchange between Ross and Joey at the end of this episode is so great. Aside from the nap partners, climbing down the fire escape, and "Hit me! Hit me! ...You ducked!" these two had so few really memorable moments together. Monica beating up that woman for a wedding dress was great, too. The One With Ross and Monica's Cousin I know everyone hates this episode because of Ross horndogging on his cousin and Joey's prosthetic penis, but as crass as this episode is, it's so funny. The One With Monica and Chandler's Wedding Probably one of the best and funniest season finales on this show. I love Ross and Phoebe looking for Chandler - "Is that him?" "That is an old Chinese woman." and Rachel trying to stall Monica "The nights are the hardest. Then the day comes, and it's every bit as hard as the night." But Joey officiating is the highlight... too funny. I hope he has a chance to marry off Ross & Rachel on "Joey," that way he can marry all three couples. The One After 'I Do' It's pretty much a filler episode to give Rachel a chance to reveal she's pregnant, but between Joey's toast, his tiny feet, Chandler trying to dance, and Ross dancing with all the little kids, it's worth it. The One With the Videotape Next to "Everybody Finds Out," I consider this one of the most brilliant episodes "Friends" ever did. It really feels like a "Seinfeld" episode, but in a good way, with the whole backpacking through western Europe thing. Plus, it has some great one-liners. The One With the Stripper I always love it when Ross and Dr. Green interact, but this is probably their funniest moment together. And Monica accidentally hiring Chandler a hooker for his fake bachelor party is too funny. The One Where Chandler Takes a Bath Hate me if you want, but I actually liked the original Joey & Rachel storyline. It didn't feel fake and forced the first time like it did in season 9. Ross & Rachel picking out baby names and Chandler's baths are great too. The One in Massapequa Alec Baldwin shines in this episode. "The Interstate Highway... a concrete miracle!" And Rachel and Ross having to pretend they're married to cover for her illegitimate pregnancy is too great. "My dress was made by blind Belgian nuns, and a dove placed the ring on my finger. But other than that, it was a simple wedding." The One Where Rachel Has a Baby How appropriate it is that Rachel gets stuck in labor for two days? The random people being wheeled in and out of the room were always funny, and of course Janice! Monica and Chandler attempting to make a baby had its moments too. The One With Phoebe's Birthday Dinner This episode moves slow at first, but once everyone finally makes it to the table, it hits all the right places quickly. "PICK UP THE SOCK!" The One With the Male Nanny Yay, David the Scientist Guy! I'm glad Phoebe picked Mike, but I miss David. Anyway, it's mostly Ross and the male nanny that make this episode, and surprisingly, Freddie Prinze Jr. isn't annoying! How weird. The One With Rachel's Other Sister Christina Applegate as Amy, as far as I'm concerned, is the greatest recurring guest star this show ever had. Yes, even above Janice (though just barely.) She absolutely makes this episode, even though everyone else has some great one-liners and moments here too. "You know what would be great? If you guys died!" The One With Rachel's Phone Number It always pissed me off that Joey & Chandler got cheated out of stories once he and Monica married, but once the writers realized they could incorporate Monica into those storylines, it was always better than nothing. This is one of the best Joey/Monica & Chandler stories, and introduced Scary Pigeon! But it's always the story between Ross and Mike that gets me with this episode. I always wish they could have given Mike more stories with the other Friends like they did in this episode, because in the last two seasons he was already a semi-regular and worked well with all six of them. The One Where Monica Sings It always blows me away how JA and DS can turn their romantic chemistry on and off like they do here. The fight they have at the end isn't super-emotional like "Morning After," but it feels so real it's amazing. Also, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe and Mike at karaoke night and Monica at the stage ("Are those my wife's nipples?") and Joey's waxed eyebrow ("It's like a baby caterpillar chasing it's mama.") The One With the Lottery It kind of pisses me off how out-of-character Monica is in this episode, but the episode as a whole is so funny I have to let it go. The One With the Soap Opera Party To be honest, I don't know why I like this episode so much. Joey & Rachel, Part 2. Charlie's first appearance (even though the very funny Aisha Tyler plays her, Tyler's not given enough to do to be funny). But I do. So it's on the list. The One in Barbados Yeah, it capped off the Joey & Rachel storyline, but what a fun episode. Monica's hair, Monica and Mike competing in ping-pong, David proposing ("It's 1/70th of a carat. And the clarity is quite poor.") All six (plus Mike) were just "on" this episode. The One Where Ross is Fine Yeah, I know some of you think Ross is so cringeworthy in this episode, but that was the point. He hits rockbottom emotionally. He was so funny and at the same time, you felt bad for him. "Fajitas!" The One With the Cake One of the last 'everyone in one room' episodes, and the final appearance of the Gellers. Such a fun episode though, between the toy races, the penis cake and everyone's video messages to Emma. The One With the Late Thanksgiving The final Thanksgiving. Even though it wasn't a great way to end the tradition, this was probably one of the funniest Thanksgiving episodes. ("I got mugged, and they stole my pocket.") The One Where the Stripper Cries One of my favorite episodes of the last four seasons, ever. The last 80s flashback sequence ever, a hilarious Danny DeVito as the stripper and Joey on "Pyramid." The high point of the final season, no doubt. The One With Phoebe's Wedding Poor Phoebe. Everyone else got hour-long wedding episodes, and she just gets a supersized half-hour episode. I did like everyone interacting at the rehearsal dinner, especially Joey and Mike's parents, Ross wanting to be in the ceremony ("It's a wedding, it'll be weird if I'm not in it"), Chappy the dog, Joey officiating, so awesome. The Last One 'Nuff said. tiff7 10-13-2004, 12:51 PM I luv when Ross says to Chandler "if u ever hurt my sister, I'll hunt u down & kick your ass" which makes Chandler laugh. (this quote is in the episode be4 Monica & Chandler's wedding) I like all the episodes that u posted, slackermonkey! :D Tiff7 18 days til (~~) slackermonkey 10-13-2004, 06:50 PM That's one of my favorite running gags in that episode. Especially when his parents tell him, "Of course you can kick his ass. You can kick anyone's ass" and he's all confident about himself again until they walk away holding back laughter. CarJackSnyder 10-14-2004, 05:45 PM I have a lot of favorites, but I am only going to put my top 10 1.) TOW Rachel is Late 2.) TOW Phoebe's Birthday Dinner 3.) TOW all the Poker 4.) TOW Ross Finds Out 5.) TO After Vegas 6.) TOW the Prom Video 7.) The Last One 8.) TOW Everybody Finds Out 9.) TO on the Last Night 10.) What are you, a girl?" 5.) TO After Vegas See, I've never been as crazy about this one as everyone else is. I don't know why. Monica and Chandler's thing about the signs is funny, and Ross has his little moments with the drunken marriage, but everything else is just kind of... blah to me. Funny, just not on par to most of the other episodes, IMO. CarJackSnyder 10-14-2004, 06:18 PM Originally posted by slackermonkey See, I've never been as crazy about this one as everyone else is. Other than that and Monica and Chandler's thing it wasn't really that funny, but it is one of my favorites anyway! aNaHiD DaLy PeRRy 10-14-2004, 08:08 PM Oh my God! Especially love the fact that Monica has lottery tickets hidden everywhere! She is so funny! And isn't that also the episode where Chandler tries to prove to his boss that he is not mature by all of the sudden screaming out "farts, boobies, buttcracks!" I love that line. And I love Phoebe's craziness when she gets fed up with everyone fighting over the tickets and decides to end it once and for all! She is insane! savy333 10-31-2004, 12:59 AM Originally posted by slackermonkey The One With Monica and Chandler's Wedding Probably one of the best and funniest season finales on this show. I just wish I could do without the hand twin stuff.[b] I love this episode. I hate the Hand Storyline though. But it is only a few scenes and I can live with it. My favorite part is when Monica is being a complete dork giving Chandler the plane tickets and talking about their "Plane-iversary" and their "AnniVegasry" and Chandler says "I want to start seeing other people". I laugh so hard I cry. Phoebe and the lurker are great together. That lady is a riot the way she just pops out of no where. And the plane trip with Rachel and Ross is great. Especially when Rachel kisses a bald man's head and then blames it on Ross. One more thing I love about this episode is how Phoebe keeps score wanting the Vegas trip to be better then London. "Is this trip better or worse then the trip to London? How about after I give you these candies?" !!! barwars 11-03-2004, 10:09 PM Originally posted by slackermonkey The One Where No One's Ready The show's tribute to "Seinfeld," and it's obvious. I just saw it for the first time (thanks to DVD), the other day.... and LOVED it. Definately my favorite of the series. So many quotes and memorable scenes.... it was brilliant. Real Time Episodes are awesome. (although the final scene at the actual benefit was really weak) slackermonkey 11-03-2004, 10:53 PM I agree, but Ross's "Who are you, Cro-Magnon P.I.?" always gets a chuckle out of me. There's a reason why that episode was one of those top six favorites earlier this year. It's one of the most famous "Friends" episodes. savy333 11-03-2004, 11:22 PM I don't like the one where no one's ready. This is one of my least favorites actually. slackermonkey 11-03-2004, 11:41 PM Would you believe you're the only person I know who didn't like that episode? Consider yourself special. |
