Years later after it was in syndication I bumped into Kate and Allie and thought that was a great show. The way I see it. two single girls were funny and two divorce women with children were funny too. Now years later seeing the two shows. I will take Kate and Allie. James 10-09-2004, 09:43 PM Laverne and Shirley. No contest. dandelion wine 10-09-2004, 09:44 PM Laverne and Shirley JT 10-09-2004, 11:52 PM I love both to death, so it's hard to choose. I'll go with Kate & Allie just because few people have said it before... Jack Be Quick 101 10-10-2004, 04:48 PM lavern and shirly, no contest. jico2004 10-16-2004, 03:56 PM Kate & Allie. Because if it's 80's it's all right, if it's 70's send it back. GARFIELDKOOL 10-18-2004, 10:41 AM You shouldn't judge a show on the decade. By the way, 70's sitcoms were better than the 80s. I could not get into Kate & Allie...I loved Laverne & Shirley!!!! GARFIELDKOOL 12-08-2005, 11:42 AM Who's bumping up all these old threads of mine? Anyway, you couldn't get into K&A, Irene? I can't find many fans of the show. No wonder the board on this forum is dead. It was one of the best shows nobody talks about. I use to watch it in the 80s. I got teased for watching it because it was a "woman's" show. LOL TVFactFan 12-08-2005, 12:09 PM Who's bumping up all these old threads of mine? Anyway, you couldn't get into K&A, Irene? I guess the point I am making-I forgot I posted this topic. LOL I was new at the time. tv star collector 12-08-2005, 08:12 PM LAVERNE & SHIRLEY (a HAPPY DAYS spin-off) was set in the 1950s. It was a slapstick comedy (like I LOVE LUCY). Comparing it to KATE & ALLIE is like comparing apples and oranges. robyrob 12-08-2005, 11:17 PM Laverne and Shirley (Kate & Allie was OK though) Ireneparalegal 12-08-2005, 11:39 PM Who's bumping up all these old threads of mine? Monday Night Football. :) GARFIELDKOOL 12-09-2005, 08:21 AM Monday Night Football. :) True, but when it moved to 8pm, I started watching it every week. It competed with Alf during this timeslot. troopoleon8897 12-09-2005, 11:15 AM Laverne & Shirley... I watched it during the off season but I wasn't a regular watcher. TVFactFan 12-09-2005, 04:17 PM Well Prime Tv Shows no longer have to worry about competing with Monday Night Football since it will be on Cable next year Buffyboy323 12-11-2005, 01:35 AM Laverne and Shirley were much better!!!.......the show was much better too. (until shirley left the show anyway) Mr. Television 12-11-2005, 01:47 AM Well Prime Tv Shows no longer have to worry about competing with Monday Night Football since it will be on Cable next year Thats true. Anyway, Laverne & Shirley definitely. I was a teen in the 80's when Kate & Allie aired Monday nights and I couldn't stand it. I also wondered why 2 single mothers decided shacking up together like that with their kids and if they were lovers. It was just a weird setup, especially for that time. Svenfan1234 11-10-2018, 01:50 PM Laverne & Shirley. Never seen Kate & Allie. kk-likes-tv 11-10-2018, 06:36 PM Wow, this thread started over 14 years ago! Anyway, Laverne & Shirley definitely. Well by golly, methinks they were lovers and it was one of TV's gayest ever shows. But not as gay as Perfect Strangers (puke, puke). cfr1970 11-10-2018, 07:19 PM Well by golly, methinks they were lovers and it was one of TV's gayest ever shows. But not as gay as Perfect Strangers (puke, puke). I never tuned into it enough to know, but did they ever date men or was the stories always about the 2 women? It could've been subtle since it wasn't really allowed to be shown blatantly back then. As for Perfect Strangers I couldn't agree more! BIG PUKE for that show. I remember always passing by the living room or on my way out the door and seeing my parents watching it when it aired and wondered why they would tune into such a dumb show. I've yet to see an episode of it ever since and never plan to! It just looks so asinine. Were they subtle lovers too?! kk-likes-tv 11-10-2018, 08:39 PM I never tuned into it enough to know, but did they ever date men or was the stories always about the 2 women? However, I do recall numerous references to "rug licking", so there's that. Also the time when Kate told one of the kids to not go out in the cold without ear muffs, slyly emphasizing the "muffs" provoking guffaws from the studio audience. So in summary I'd say it was a very gay show. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Edward216 11-11-2018, 03:12 AM I like both Laverne and Shirley and Kate and Allie, but I have to say I have a slight preference for Kate and Allie. So I guess that means Kate and Allie is my favorite. Ed. Sal 11-13-2018, 12:23 PM Laverne and Shirley by a landslide! |
