There was a Christmas episode one year where they didn't film a new show. They just filmed a brief opening shot and closing shot where Fonzie is telling Al about his first visit to the Cunninghams on Christmas Eve. Then they show the entire Christmas episode with Chuck. As Fonzie begins the story, he says, "It was Christmas Eve. Chuck, their oldest son, was home from college...", or something like that.

i believe you are correct that it was the last reference to Chuck, but it has been so long since I have seen the episode that i dont remember any details :(

If Paramount decides to release Season Two on DVD, it would be nice if they included both versions of "Guess Who's Coming to Christmas" - with and without the prefacing from Fonzie. Sadly, citing their history of issuing only bare-bones sets, I doubt they'll include the former.

Why is it the networks keep thinking that people are idiots. chuck was the oldest of 3 kids howard and mariann cunningham had, we had seen him in some episodes, now i dont remember if chuck was a part of the happy days starter episode on love american style, in the ep titled love and the happy days, but we did see him in the series, then one day poof he is gone i dont mean written out he is gone from exsistance, most shows write out a person but they dont deny that person exsisted, but happy days wrote chuck out of exsistance as if he were never there, on many episodes after he was gone howard and marriann stated they had 2 children only and not 3, richie and jonie but what the heck did they do with chuck i think the actors name is and i may not spell it right gavin ohearlahe, infact on the happy days reunion back in the 90s tom bosley at the end of the show looked up after hearing something and said is that chuck was that chuck i heard

In responce to Flying Dutchman, I kind of like the fact that "Happy Days" had so many inperfections and weird things like that in the series, such as Chuck just disappearing with no given explaination. I've had plenty of fun times debating with people on here exactly what the explaination for things like that could be. Made for some pretty funny discussions. :lol:

Regarding the Flying Dutchman's message, yes, Chuck was in the "Love and the Happy Days" episode of Love, American Style (played by Ric Carrott). Gavan O'Herlihy (first season) and Randolph Roberts (second season) played Chuck on Happy Days.

Yes angel i do remember now there was another guy who played chuck in the 2nd season, but i think gavan was the only one that went on to do other things, like Death wish 3 he played a gang leader, also superman 3 he played brad Lanas ex high school boyfriend now turned drunk, Was he in willow? i know he has done alot of tv, he was in star trek voyager the pilot ep. he played an alien.

Yep, O'Herlihy was in Willow. As you mentioned, he has made many TV guest appearances on shows such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, The Amazing Spider-Man, Tales from the Crypt, Twin Peaks, Star Trek: Voyager, and others. I think his most recent work was on the TV (UK) movie Cruise of the Gods in 2002.

Possibly. Fonzie described it to Al as "[2 or 3] years ago," when he went to Cunninghams' and Chuck was there.

The episode was shown twice with new intros.
