John Ritter is MY IDOL!!!! I immitate him a lot and I think he is just flat out great! IMO he is the best comedic actor since Lucile Ball. John Ritter ROCKS!!!

I have a poll, pick:
Three's Company or Friends

I say 3's Company. It's very original, and it's not just about a bunch of actors trying to act funny and stupid like in Friends, which gets on my nerves. God I hate that show. They all look concited and mean. If I had to pick which cast I could hang out with, it would definately be 3's Company. Plus the actors in 3's Company don't HAVE TO TRY and act funny because they are ALREADY FUNNY.

3s Company All the Way! I'd Rather Grouge My Ears Out then Watch 24 Hours of Friends! All the actors on TC were very talented! Just Wish It Lasted Longer, Maybe to at least 86!

Anyone notice that in Friends, they act kind of snobish and the guys act really gay. I hope their ratings are doing bad so this can be their final season. I could care less whose getting who pregnant, whose getting engaged, whose dating who, blah, blah, blah....

TC rules forever!!

I like BOTH! But Three's Company is a lot better!!!!!!! Friends and Three's Company are alike...the characters remind me of each other! Like...

Chandler reminds me of Jack
Joey reminds me of Larry
Monica reminds me of Janet
Phoebe reminds me of Chrissy
Rachel reminds me of Terri
Ross reminds me of...uh...

But Three's Company is just sooooo good!!!! Its funnier, smarter, BETTER!

TC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im only 15, and I understand what they mean on every little "adult" joke. Friends brings everything out in the open, while TC kinda makes you think. Friends is not a very good show in my opinion, plus it made Nancys show go off the air. Grrrr...

That doesn't prove anything. Look at this:
Less People Watch TV then 20 Years Ago, and "Three's Company" had around 30 Million Viewers, "Friends" has only around 20 Million, and NBC is sinking to dirt again!

*On NBC, Ratings Are Falling , Yeah! Other then for "ALF", "Silver Spoons", 'Facts', and "Diff'rent Strokes" (And 'Jeannie' and 'Smart') that network has sucked it's entire history. And I Hate "Friends", all those people on it are idiots IMO

i can't believe u don't like friends, it's hilarious! don't you know that courtney cox arquette is and excellent actress and has been in one of the best horror flicks?(scream)-and jennifer aniston, she's such a babe! and lisa kudrow, hilarious! matthew perry, he's funny and has been in some good movies! david s...... is hilarious on the show! i don't like matt leblanc, but his stupidness on the show is funny. and how do you know how many people watched TC and how many watch friends? friends is the best show of all time and is the best show on nbc. and friends is currently on THREE channels. how many is TC on? so, u said 20 million. so, 20 million times 3 is 50 million.

The Neilsons say that it was around that.

And Also, "Friends" has never been #1, TC Has, "Friends" had never been #2, TC Has.

"Friends" reruns on TBS from now compared to the old primetime airings of TC on Nick are barely comparable. TC Would Still Be Overated.

The Reruns Only Have a Small Percent of the Ratings of the Primetime Airings

And I'll Say It Again, I think all the actors on "Friends" can't act. Sorry, Just My Opinion

sitcomsrule
11-02-2001, 07:58 PM
if they can't act, how have they had a show last 8 seasons?

TC had it's great moments, but it had to end cuz the show sucked! the last season n e ways. what's the ratings for friends lately? still on the top ten? the 8th season?

check what the ratings were for three's company.

i think i don't like TC as much as friends is becuz of the cast changes ALL THE TIME! after the fifth season, it went down hill.

Montana Ponine
11-02-2001, 08:44 PM
I think Friends is ok, but it doesn't even compare with TC. Friends can get me to laugh but I think TC is just hilarious. I don't really have anything to complain about friends because I will watch it, I just think TC is way better... it's JMO though.

Sean Snow
11-02-2001, 08:52 PM
Well, the only reason it has those ratings cause of the even crappier shows on now! "Friends" sucks imo, those people need to get a life. The concept is bad:

They are friends (7) for 8 years. But in real life, one friend would leave or be added, like in a certain show. *Ahem*

The Only Show I Find Worth Watching Is "Will & Grace"

And "Three's Company" is still going to be remembered ten years from now, "Friends" won't be as remembered, and I don't care how long it ran. "My Three Sons" ran 12 years, and barely anyone talks about it!

"Friends" has no staying power, and the episodes I've seen I didn't laught once.

It's a Big, Fat, Dumb Copy of "Three's Company" IMO

Sean Snow
11-02-2001, 09:16 PM
Also, the only reason Friends was #9 in it's first season compared to TC's #11 was because Friends had a full season, and TC only had 6 episodes! Let's compare the numbers:

First Seasons: (Numbers Beside are Est Audience)
Friends (94-95): 14,882,400 Three's Company (1977): 16, 447,200

Second Seasons:
Friends (95-96): 17,933,300 Three's Company (77-78): 20,630,700

Third Seasons
Friends (96-97): 16,297,000 Three's Company (78-79): 22,573,500

Fourth Seasons:
Friends (97-98): 15,778,000 Threes Company (79-80): 20,066,900

Fifth Seasons:
Friends (98-99): 15,605,400 Threes Company (80-81): 17,897,600

Sixth Seasons:
Friends (99-00): 13,800,000 Threes Company (81-82): 18,989,500

Seventh Seasons:
Friends (00-01): 20,500,000 Threes Company (82-83): 17,659,600

Eighth Seasons:
Friends: Three's Company: ????????? (Under 14,000,000)

So Far, Only One Season Has Beaten 'Company', this one prob will too, but I don't expect "Friends" too go on after this season. I'll be throwing a party if it's true.

BTW, I Made a Mistake: Friends was once #2, and the 30 Vs. 20 is wrong, by that I meant Network Shares, if ya want to know what that is, I'll explain later.

Like, during it's height, it had a 30.3 share, compared to "Friends" 98-99 High that ranges somewhere between 15-20 I think.

there are SIX friends. and...how do u know that a friend would leave or another one would be added in "real life". they're GOOD friends, that's y they've been around so long. and TC isn't real...it's known for being the show about nothing...and the show that's most UNREAL! come on, think of some of the episodes of TC, especially the mis-understandings, which are hilarious, but totally UNREAL!

i like friends cuz it's seems real and is very funny

i like TC cuz it's so un-real and is very funny

I think Three's Company is better then Friends, but i still like friends!!! It's not THAT bad! Courtney Cox Arquette is sooooo awesome! Matthew Perry is awesome too and Matt LeBlanc is really funny! Sometimes Lisa Kudrow annoys me....but shes funny...Jennifer Aniston is good...btw she has awesome hair! lol...David Schwimmer is not bad....

But....
John Ritter was the best, will be the best, and IS the best at physical comedy! He is SO great! Joyce DeWitt is a GREAT actress and had good sarcasm! Suzanne Somers is HILARIOUS at being Chrissy and gave the show good ratings! Norman Fell and Audra Lindley were really funny and worked well together! Don Knotts...one word....FUNNY!!! Jenilee Harrison...OMG...what a great actress! Her clumsiness was soooooo good and it worked really well with John Ritter's physical comedy! Richard Kline was really funny....Priscilla Barnes...well...not my fav but not bad!

So....
Friends is an ok show but Three's Company is better imo!

Real? You Call Being Added to a Soap Opera When Your A Man and Have to Play a Woman Reincarnated Real?

And "Friends" is a show that is about nothing. "Three's Company" did have plot to it, unlike "The Brady Bunch" or "Friends". And I guess that means "Seinfeld" (The Best Show of the Ninties Along With "Will & Grace" IMO) isn't all that good either?

#01- "Three's Company"
#02- "Laverne & Shirley"

#05- "Welcome Back, Kotter"
#06- "All in the Family"

i like both shows, but i love tc sooo much better. I find all the characters funny on every show, but on TC i think the characters were better. I mean, there was physical humor. On Friends its all jokes. I find all the jokes funny, but still. Also on Friends there were too many characters to keep track of and they were all over the place. In TC mostly they were all in the same place and the same thing was going on. There is so much to remember on Friends. Ross has been married 3 times, Rachel had a number of relationships and so on... I dunno. i like both shows, but ill give Friends up anyday for Three's Company

u don't know what would happen in real life! people could stay friends for eight years! so, u do watch 'friends'. that episode about joey was on yesterday or the day before, i presume. i don't see why you don't like NEW shows. all the shows on ur top six are GREAT shows, but jeez, don't you watch n e thing but nick at nite? i'm just asking u to stop dissing my favorite show. if u didn't like it, you wouldn't watch it. so, deep inside, u know u like it. there have got to be some episodes that make you laugh. i mean, it's my favorite shows and it takes five-ten minutes to get funny, but it still is.

I do watch shows outside Nick at Nite....TV Land, LOL!

Shows Today Pretty Much Repeat Older Shows, Most of Them Now are Just About Getting It On, and there ain't enough physical comedy like in the days of Tripper and Ricardo.

Just Because I Watched It Doesn't Mean I Like It. I Wanted to See "Inside Schwartz", cause Richard Kline was in it, and it was a repeat of "Friends", and there wasn't anything else on. And I do watch "Will & Grace", "The Ellen Show", "Becker", and "The Drew Carey Show" which aren't on Nick or TV LAnd from time to time.

I agree with Sean. Sitcoms aren't as good as they were back then. I can't stand people about to be in there 40's, still trying to act like teenagers and trying to be real silly. I can stand the first couple of seasons of Friends, but now that show just looks like a fashion show and everyone is trying to act funny. I watch more of the classics, just for one simple reason, it's A LOT better. There are only a couple of shows I can stand and watch like Drew Carey and Everyone loves Raymond, and that's pretty much it. I also hate teenage tv crap shows. But I will never get tired of Three's Company. I like comedys but they have to be smart, not just people acting stupid. Like in real life, does gay people really act like those in Will and Grace? They overdo it, like in Friends too. Joey for example, acts way too stupid, I don't find it funny. At least with John Ritter you can laugh at him because of his physical comedy and he is beyond just acting stupid.

Although I love "Three's Company", I don't believe the show was ever the #1 show during it's original run. It came close to being number one show in the 1978-79 season. Laverne & Shirley was the #1 show during that particular season with a rating of 30.5, Three's Company came in second with a rating of 30.3. The highest it ever earned was number 2 but it remained most in the top 10 during its original run. But it never got to be the number #1 show in its first run.

I totally disagree with you, Sean. "The Brady Bunch" is one of those shows that had
some of best plots. The plots were centered around every day problems with the Bradys.
For instance, Jan is tired of her siblings always being in the way of things and so she wishes to be the only child, Or the time
she trys tap dancing and it didn't work out for her and so she trys something different.
Doesn't everybody have these types of problems? Anyways, I am a bit confused with that statement you made about the Brady Bunch, Sean. Why do you feel that there is no plot to "The Brady Bunch"?

By the way, Here are my top 6 current favorite shows:
1) "I Love Lucy"
2) "Three's Company"
3) "Survivor"
4) "The Lucy Show"
5) "Laverne & Shirley"
6) "The Brady Bunch"

Hey Sitcomsrule,

The cast of Friends are about to be in their 40's, (they always pretend to be just in their early 30's but they're really in their late 30's b/c most of them were born in the 60's) ,and yes, so was TC, BUT what I'm saying is that TC is A LOT SMARTER!!! Friends is just about he goes out with her and her goes out with him and blah blah. And I hate Joey and Chandler, they act like girls sometimes!!!

But this is the Three's Company board. This was what I was expecting for everyone to gang up on Friends. Sorry, but I hate that show. My sister loves Friends though, and we debate about it all the time. But I think I'm finish. Let's end this. Yikes! This is getting out of hand. Okay I won't diss Friends anymore. Peace and love.

they ARE NOT that old! go to imdb.com and search for "Friends" or a cast member. u've got to realize, that when they started the show, they were young! just like TC, they were young when they started the show, but were old when the show was cancelled...

(read my TC fan-fictions at the TC fan-fiction board. Sean, you have excellent fan-fictions, but i can't read some shows like "Four's a couple", looking for first episode, and WCWL, can't find any. you should make another spin-off)

I have to say something on this. I don't think Lucy affected what TV Shows came at all. It was a good show, and raised the standards, but there were a lot of sitcoms before it. And there's no way of seeing what would've happened, so its up in the air. JMHO

I disagree about the statement up above because if it wasn't for Lucy and her company (that she created with Desi) some shows like "The Dick Van Dyke Show" would have probably never came to be. And if earlier shows didn't exist it would have caused a major chain reaction.

Example:
No "The Dick Van Dyke Show" then there probably wouldn't been "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" because Mary got her big start on DVD show. If no "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", obviously there would be no "Rhoda," "Phyllis," and "Lou Grant".

So you see, Lucille Ball did affect some shows and if she didn't exist then some shows wouldn't have exist either. Get the picture?
