View Full Version : Baby names for Beth's baby
Storywriter 10-07-2004, 11:30 PM I thought maybe you'd like playing this game.....As we all know Beth is due to have her baby around Christmas and she may either name it Nick or Noelle......
What other names do you all think is good for a baby born around Christmas......
For girls I think that Haley, and Nicole would be great names or Mary since she maybe a Christmas baby......
Holly is a bit plain but pretty...Halo is pretty good too a little different but I doubt she'll name her Halo..........
For boys I have to agree with Nicholas has in St.Nicolas or Santa Claus the kids call him today....
Christian is even a nice name or Joseph has in Jesuse's father Joseph......
What names do you think would be perfect for Beth's Possibly Christmas Day baby.......
Answer if you like.....Mel :)

I think JJ and Beth will chose names that were popular around that time period.

*jj'sbabe* 10-08-2004, 10:05 AM I'm a huge fan of the name Bryn for a girl and Nicholas for a boy (with the nickname "Cole") although...neither were particularly popular in 1965 :(
There are TONS of other names that I love (haha...I think names are really cool...yeah i'm a dork) but if i were to start listing them..I would go on forever haha
- Abby <---- this is cute too ;)

- Abby <---- this is cute too ;) I love reading baby names too......I don't think I want to have kids in the future but I still like reading baby names for girls and boys and read what the name means......
That's why I made this post.....Cause even though the names I picked may not of been popular in the 60's......Doesn't mean they'll follow the trend.....
Like today if we were to have a baby born on Christmas or around Christmas...
Very few parents will name their child Holly for a girl or Christopher for a boy around that time now where as to in like the 60's and 70's they would name their Child Holly if she were born on Christmas or around Christmas...........
And Etecetra......Mel :)
Leigh Ann 10-08-2004, 02:54 PM What about Angela? You know, for Angel? I don't know, since Henry's daughter is Angela. But, it's just a thought..
Yeah, and for a boy, I'd say Christopher or Nicholas (Nick for short).
nicole_adluver4 10-09-2004, 01:40 PM haha. this is really ironic because not even thinking about American Dreams, right before I came to this post, I was looking at names on the internet! and then as I was thinking of something else to do, I decided to come here and here was this post! it's quite amazing sometimes.
I don't know what they should name their baby. I don't like many of the names for girls in the 60s, but I do like the more traditional boy names. Some of the girl names are okay, but I'm not a big fan.
abcdef 10-10-2004, 04:16 PM If it's a girl I think Beth will probably name the baby after Jack and Helen's mothers. Like a combo of JJ's grandmothers name.
If it's a boy I think Beth will name him after JJ.

cutiejulie63 10-25-2004, 06:20 PM I partly agree with abcdef: My first thought was that Beth would definetly name the baby after JJ, but I realized that wouldn't really work: JJ is short for Jack Junior. Jack Junior is JJ's father. So in conclusion, if Beth named the baby after JJ there would be three Jack Pryors and the baby would be Jack Junior Junior. Unless JJ dies, of course. If the baby's a girl, she will probably name it Noel, Angela, or Helen Junior.
cutiejulie63 10-25-2004, 06:22 PM Wait a sec, abcdef! Why would Beth name the baby after JJ's grandmothers? Why not her own? I G2G, luv u all!
alumnagirl 10-25-2004, 11:21 PM What's wrong with naming a child after a grandparent? It's actually common practice in some cultures. However, "Junior" would probably not be part of the little girl's name, as "Junior" is usually only used with boys. Anyway, maybe the little girl will have a variant of "Helen". Maybe Ellen or Elaine?

Actually, JJ stands for John Junior. John is Jack's real name. If you look on the flag from the Blue Star meeting, it says, "John Pryor Jr."
cutiejulie63 10-26-2004, 05:48 PM Whatever. Still, it would bee weird to have John (the dad) John Junior (JJ) and then John Junior Junior or whatever they would call it. I don't even know if that's legal!
cutiejulie63 10-26-2004, 05:50 PM alumnagirl: I never said there was ANYTHING wrong with naming a child after their grandparents. I'm named after my grandmother! I said that why would Beth name the child after JJ's grandparents, why wouldn't she name it after her own?
cutiejulie63 10-26-2004, 05:53 PM Alumnagirl, you are wrong! W-R-O-N-G! Girls can have Junior as part of their names! I'm living proof! My name is Julia Junior Elizabeth Cogan! There is absoulutly nothing odd in having Junior be a part of a name. It's insulting to me!
alumnagirl 10-27-2004, 12:00 PM Girls don't TRADITIONALLY have Junior as part of their names because their last name isn't normally passed on to their children, unless they have a baby outside of marriage. This is especially the case in the mid 1960s when it basically didn't happen at all. Also, why is Junior part of your middle name? Traditionally, the suffix of Junior comes after one's name.
The following is the traditional way of naming kids (the method that the Pryors would probably practice):
Generation 1: Jonathan Lewis Smith.
His son would therefore be:
Jonathan Lewis Smith, Jr
Junior's son would be
Jonathan Lewis Smith III
When Jonathan Lewis Smith Sr (aka Jonathan Lewis Smith I) dies,
Junior becomes Sr and Jonathan III becomes Jr. That's the way things would have worked back then and how things still sort of work today.
cutiejulie63 10-27-2004, 08:06 PM It's not part of my middle name, it's part of my first name! What do you want me to do, hyphonate it?
