Anyone here have any spooky stories? Any relatives seen a ghost? In Jersey, 15 or so years ago, my family had this reunion in an old mansion in Bellford. Along the wall in between levels of a staircase (1st and 2nd floor) there was, of all things, this painting of Washington; I believe it was the famous one with the tear at the bottom. Anyway, the picture, at times, did strange things. Maybe it was power of suggestion, because people would say, "Come here and look at this painting!" I swear the damn thing blinked. Washington's eyes blinked as if he were 3-d, and his lids were blinking like a real man's would. At times the corners of his mouth would curl to almost a smile. Now that I'm older, I understand facts like staring at an image, your focus gets relaxed, and sometimes faces can contort, fixed objects can appear to move. But for a young kid, something like that experience is mighty eerie. Not much of a ghost story, no, but that's why I'd like to read about some. If anyone has anything they might remember, please feel free. Let's have some early Halloween fun!

That sounds like an optical illusion.

This may sound stupid, but right after my cat died, I swear I would "see" her every once in awhile around the house. Always just out of the corner of my eye, and very fleeting. When I would turn to look, there would be nothing there, or maybe a pile of socks or something equally mundane. In retrospect, I'm sure these were nothing more than grief induced hallucinations. It wasn't scary, but rather comforting to think she was still around.
