Taxi season 1

I'm still getting Ren & Stimpy even though the episodes are cut when they say they aren't.

I'm also going to be getting the ABC Afterschool Specials.

I was on the fence about Taxi, but now I'm seriously thinking about picking it up.

Ren & Stimpy was a definite buy, but now I'm not getting it as long as there's a good deal of missing footage.

I'd love to have The Wire because it's a great show, but the price is ridiculous, plus I've recorded all the episodes, so I don't really need it.

I'm definitely getting the ABC Afterschool Specials and I hope to get Jamie Kennedy Experiment S2.

So for me: Taxi, Afterschool Specials, and JKX.

The main one is "Taxi". That's a show I tried taping on N@N and TV Land but never quite got every episode. Although I did get every first season episode, this is still a big deal and something I'm totally excited about. Taxi is in my top 5 favorite sitcoms list.

I've never seen but plan on blindbuying "Dream On". I voted for and will probably buy on the first day is "Ren & Stimpy."

I'm considering picking up both "Dream On" and "Taxi," since I need some stuff to watch to tide me over until November (when practically every TV DVD I want is coming out :rolleyes: ). But I don't want to buy them blind.

"Dream On" I think I'd like because it's from the creators of "Friends," one of my favorite shows ever; and "Taxi" I may get, because I love "Cheers" and I've heard they're really similar shows.

For the record, my other favorites are "Seinfeld," "Will & Grace" and "Frasier." Does it sound like I'd like either "Dream On" or "Taxi," or should I just save my money until next month?

You should like Taxi no problem, but Dream On may be a little harder to get into. For one thing, it was an HBO show, so there's profanity and nudity. Also, the show used alot of images and scenes to help portray what was going on, hence the title "Dream On," the lead character would often imagine something in relation to whatever situation he was in. I liked the show alot and it didn't bother me at all, but I can see how these inserted scenes might be irritating/distracting to some viewers. So I wouldn't say Dream On is reminiscint of Friends at all but it was pretty funny from what I remember of it.

Yeah, I knew "Dream On" was an HBO show, but the raunchiness doesn't bother me. I also remember them using the random b&w movie clips for comedic effect, I always thought it was a clever, original thing for a TV show. I can imagine it would get old with every episode though.

I always heard it was kinda similar to "Friends," like in the style and tone of it (which makes sense, same writers and creators and all that), but if it's not, maybe I'll hold off on that one. I figured it'd be a riskier buy than "Taxi" anyway, since it's not really a mainstream kind of sitcom.

Dream On was made by the people who did Friends, but it is a lot more like Sex And The City with a male lead, but that's fine with me, Friends was good, but S&TC is a fave

I never even heard of it until I listened to the commentaries on the Friends DVDs.


I did not buy any DVDs today.... I'm anxiously awaiting Taxi to arrive from DDD.

well, Dream On is probably quite tame by todays standards, but back in the early 90's it was pretty out there. But with the advent of shows like Sex And The City, Will And Grace and the sort, Dream On might not be as shocking as it was when it premiered when shows like Bill Cosby and Full House were still getting high ratings.

Liar!! I went and got it after all. From all I read concerning edited episodes, there wasn't much missing, it all adds up to a minute or two, and 27 of the 32 episodes are intact. So I'm glad I bought it, I haven't seen these in years, and what I've sampled so far looks pretty good.

"Cedric The Entertainer Presents" Was a good Buy, I Thought It would suck.....I see why it didnt last long though...not enought long term appeal..

hopefully I'll be getting Taxi soon, I traded a guy Ellen season 2 in exchange for Taxi and One Day At A Time, but when he receives Taxi from Paramount, he's going to forward it to me along with another title (not a review title), hopefully it'll come my way sometime soon, I love Taxi but haven't watched it in years.
