View Full Version : Your prayers and best wishes are desperatly needed!
Hey kids, TJL here. I'll try to keep this brief, a fresh episode of "Smallville" is starting...
I would like all of you to please channel all the good vibes you can muster, say a prayer, rub a rabbit's foot, use the force, whatever voodo you do well to help me out in my time of need, because I can use a little mojo this coming week.
You see, there is a distinct possibility I may have a date this weekend.
Yes, nearly two years after my last catastrophic dalience with the fairer sex, TJL has come to the conclusion that life must go on, and preferably in the company of a new object of my affection.
She is a gorgeous, vibrant creature I have had a crush on for the longest time, who works at one of the establishments I've been known to frequent.
A few weeks ago, I managed to spend some time with her outside her workplace,( a bunch of friends went out for dinner) and we've been exchanging friendly text messages since then.
Taking advantage of my day off today, I visited her at her place of business (she loved the little token I brought her; a gift of cupcakes - a little joke between us) and in my half assed beffudled/charming Hugh Grant manner, made arrangements to spend some time with her this weekend.
The time of this "date" is yet to be arranged, but I'm asking all of you to focus all of your positive energy on me for the remainder of the week, so I can win the heart of the fair maiden and maybe convince my friends and family that I won't die alone.
BTW, if you need your positive vibes for an important test at school or something, I totally understand.
;)

Sending good vibes to New York on a United Airlines flight. They should arive at Kennedy Airport at around 2 am EDT. Make sure you hold up a sign that says "BRAD'S VIBES" so they know where to go.
Seriously, here's hoping you sweep her off her feet this weekend.

Don't let your laughing muscles atrophy on your date, TJL, and you'll ... uhh ... nail it, or, umm, I mean, you'll have a swell time.

Okay kids, update time.
Things didn't go exactly as planned dear readers.
I called her Saturday afternoon at work, to inquire if she was free Saturday night.
Unfortunatly, she had to return to Brooklyn after work to take care of something for her girlfriend. She did say that if her plans had changed, she would give me a call later.
Since she didn't call, I'm assuming her plans didn't change.
While I am a bit disappointed things fell through, I will remain optomistic, although my roommate cautioned me that I may be too deep in the "friends" zone for her to give me any type of consideration.
He may have a point, but I've never listened to my roomie in the 17 years I've known him, so why should I start now?
For now, I'll play it cool. I don't want to push things, so I'll hold of on the calls for the time being. Maybe I'll try next weekend.
I'll keep you posted.
I'm terribly sorry that I didn't score. I have brought shame to Sitcoms Online.
;)
Chambers 10-10-2004, 06:09 PM I'm sorry, TJL. Clearly this was not your fault. You should blame all of these SO people who forgot to mail you their good vibes. But, as you said, there's still hope. I'd be very direct with her about your intentions - that way she can start thinking of you as more than just a friend with a facial tic. ;)
Good luck! :)
MORE VIBES, PEOPLE!

Well that stinks. :(
Don't give up, I'm sure everything will work out. :)
I've always wanted to use that 'grr' guy. This seems like an approriate situation to do so.
:grr:
Janice 10-10-2004, 11:37 PM Too bad it didn't work out. There's usually a reason for everything.
There's a girl out there for you who will be worth the wait. :)

I cant wait any longer.
Would someone please point her out for me?
;)
Cashodeen 10-11-2004, 05:35 AM I don't want to rag on her if she is one of your acquaintances and seems like a fine girl, but......
she passed up a date with you to "take care of something" for her friend?! What was she thinkin'? She blew it, TJL, because a date with you would have been far more fun! Well, if it was something she could not get out of, I suppose she is worth another chance. If your roommate happens to be right this time, then it is totally HER LOSS! I definitely think the "playing it cool" idea is a good one. If she turns out to be a big bummer though, then let us know when the next potential Miss Right comes along (shouldn't be anytime at all with your personality) and we'll channel those vibes again. Heck, will give it another shot for this girl if something ever looks promising with her. ;)
Kay Scarpetta 10-11-2004, 09:44 AM Sorry about that, buddy :( Maybe things will work out next time. Keep your head up ;)
Hey, I wonder whatever happened with TJL and that gorgeous girl he's trying to woo?
Glad you asked mi amigos!
Following my advice, your friendly neighborhood TJL has been playing it cool the past few weeks. I've traded a few text messages with the object of my affection, but have been holding off on a full court press for the time being.
And then I got a great wonderful grinchy idea...
Since my roommate's birthday was this weekend, why not get a few folks together Saturday night for a few drinks at our favorite bar, and if a certain doe eyed brunette was on the guest list, what better way to spend some time with her?
So I called her Thursday afternoon and told her of the birthday plans in a very pleasant no pressure message.
Okay, so I didn't hear back from her, but remember, I'm playing it cool now.
And then she called last night.
Oh how my heart leapt whe her name popped up on my cell phone screen!
Unfortunalty, (which is now my middle name) she had to work a private party (she's a bartender, not a stripper you pervs) and was unable to attend. She was very sorry not to be able to come out and celebrate, since she is friends with my roommate and wanted to hang out with us, and was equally sorry that she didn't call me back sooner. She's been working a lot lately, and was a little stressed out (I could tell from her voice she sounded a little out of sorts, having worked at her day job all day, and then off to a private party) and she felt bad she had to turn me down again.
But, she did say that she did want to get together and do something soon. I told her I'd take her to see a nice family movie to ease her stressful mind, she laughed and said we would do that.
So I see this as a victory of source dear friends.
A. She is aware that TJL wants to see her
B. She is not recoiling in fear.
So once again, I'm playing it cool. Next weekend is a bit busy for me, since I will probably be in NJ for Halloween, but a potential date with my sweet baboo is in the future.
Just don't tell her I called her sweet baboo.
;)
