Did anyone know if this was the first episode with Aunt Esther? I believe it was, but I'm not sure. Anyway, it's another great episode, with Fred acting as "The Host" in his old tuxedo. I fell out laughing when the overweight lady came in in the Playboy Bunny costume:

LAMONT: (In disbelief) WHAT is THAT??!!!

FRED: What you think it is, a water buffalo? That's Leslie Parker's neice. She's our bunny.

LAMONT: Our WHAT?

FRED: Our bunny, you know like the ones at the Playboy Club.

LAMONT: She looks more like a RABBIT from the PLOUGH-BOY Club . . .:lol:

AUNT ESTHER: Are YOU calling ME ugly?

FRED: Yes, I'm calling YOU ugly. Listen, Esther, for years people were going around talking 'bout 'Black is Beautiful'. They took one look at YOU and said HOLD EVERYTHING!!!

AUNT ESTHER: MY family has INNER beauty.

FRED: Has what?

AUNT ESTHER: INNER beauty.

FRED: Well, you better put your liver where your face is . . .

Yes,that's the first episode with Aunt Esther in it. Here's the interaction between her and Fred when she asks if she could have her Sunday School class at Fred's house.

Esther: You know what it says in the Bible,"He who seeketh findeth, and he who asketh giveth." That's Matthew.
Fred: Well, you have asketh and have been turned downeth,and now go findeth somewhere elseth. That's Fred.

Esther wanted to have her Bible meetings there. I love at the end where she and the other ladies were chasing everyone out of the house. Even that really huge ugly gangster was running for his life.

Fred actually looked kind of ok in that tux. Lamont did'nt think so however.

Lamont: "Pop! What is that you are wearing??

Fred: "It's a tuxedo! What's it look like?!"

Lamont: "You look like a tall brown penguin!"

I liked the quote from earlier in the episode:
Lamont: I'm surprised at you! You mean you would hit a woman?
Fred: No I wouldn't hit a woman! But I would hit her! (Points to Esther.}

ESTHER: I feel sorry for Lamont. You've raised him to be a backslider JUST like yourself!

FRED: Who you calling a backslider, WITCH?

ESTHER: I'm calling YOU a backslider, because you do not believe!!!

FRED: I believe. I believe I'm gonna knock you out.

ESTHER: And if you lay one HAND on me, I'll unscrew yo' arm from your socket and BEAT YO BRAINS out with it!!!

FRED:(With fists) Listen, Esther, if you ain't outta here by the count of three, I'm gonna give you a knot on your head so big it'll look like a wig on top of a natuaral on top of a wig!!!:D

Which episode was it the Esther had a diffrent husband ? He was still called Woody,but it wasn`t the usual guy who played Woody.

That was Members of the Wedding Engagement, Season 2 I believe. The Woody in that episode was a short chunky guy I'd never seen before. He didn't have any lines, either. He just mumbled angrily every time Esther threatened him.

That episode also had another character who appeared later in the series as a different person. He played Lamont's uncle in the "wedding" episode and later played a M.C. at the banquet where Fred is named the businessman of the year. Just a little piece of trivia.
