i believe her first name was jeanie. she was shot in her bedroom in what seemed like a "contract hit". anyway the episode was on the other day and they had an update saying they had found the killer but had no details as to a motive or how they found him (etc...)

anyone have anymroe details on this case?

The victim's name was Jeanne Tovrea. James "Butch" Harrod was convicted of the murder, and is currently residing in Arizona's death house.

Thanks for the link, Kane! I watched this segment the other day and like so many other times, and like Jeanne's sister said herself, I wondered what the motive was to kill her.

The segment never made any mention of whether or not Ed Tovrea had any kids....or did it? At least now we know.

Thanks for the info, Kane! I had no idea her death was ordered by her stepson! I wonder if he was ever charged with anything, or were they able to prove he was involved?

I came across an interesting article from someone that thinks James Harrod is innocent. Here is the link if you're interested:

Crystaldawn and Dynoguy, you are both welcome.

Although Ed Tovrea Sr. had children, I don't remember whether that was mentioned in the UM segment. If it was, it might have been mentioned or implied briefly.

As far as I know, James "Butch" Harrod was the only person indicted for the crime. As for Tovrea's son, Ed Jr., there may have been too little evidence to charge him.

In any case, the Court TV series "I, Detective" recently did an episode on the Jeanne Tovrea murder. Although I can't think of the title of the episode, I will let you know when it's shown again.

I remember the episode title now. It is "Behind Mansion Walls." That I, Detective episode is scheduled to be shown tonight (Monday, October 11) at 10:30 PM (Eastern Time).
