Does anyone remember the last 2 seasons of Maude(1976-78) and how good they were? I can't remember ANYTHING about those last 2 seasons, and I was wondering how they were in terms of laughs, story content, etc. Thanks!!!

I received some eps in a tape trade from the 76-77 season and they were watchable episodes. I do know the show Maude didn't finish in the top 30 in it's last two seasos.

So it was sagging in the ratings big time by then. I wonder if it could have lasted longer if the plotline of Maude going to Washington to be a congresswoman would have been allowed to play out? Hmmm . . .

See that's what i would like to find out. I don't know where the show finished exactly the last two season in the ratings because lots of books only post the top 30 shows for each season. I want to see the top 80-LOL I want to see where all the shows finished so i can know exactly why some short-lived shows was cancelled.

If you happen to have a copy of The Great TV Sitcom Book by Rick Mitz, there is a note in there towards the end of the write-up on "Maude" that gives its ranking in the last season. I had this book years ago and want to find it again- real informative. Anyway, the ratings were VERY low, which is one of the reasons Bea Arthur was disenchanted with continuing in the role. I remember reading that she said "It is time for both me and my character to take a rest . . . "
