MAUDE deserves to be on DVD with Norman Lear's other great shows from the 1970's(All In The Family, Good Times, Sanford and Son, Jeffersons, etc). Its been years since I've caught an episode of Maude in syndication, but from what I remember she was funny as hell. Sort of like a female Archie Bunker/Fred Sanford; Someone who was not to be trifled with. She had a slew of wonderful comebacks. One I remember in particular:

WALTER(her husband): Maude, where are the studs for my tuxedo?

MAUDE: I don't know.

WALTER: How can you not know? I don't understand this. Why is it whenever you're looking for a stud, you can NEVER find one around here.

(Maude stands looking at him for a minute while the audience laughs in anticipation)

MAUDE: I KNOW how you feel, Walter . . .

Yeah it's so dumb that all the other Lear sitcoms are out on DVD including One Day At a Time and not Maude.

Oh, that's right. I always forget about One Day At a Time being a Norman Lear show. Never really got into that one.
