View Full Version : Second Season DVD
Lady T 10-01-2004, 08:07 PM I heard a rumor, that there MIGHT be a second seasond DVD of Barney Miller; this would be really great for Barney Miller fans, because the second season had a lot of great episodes, including an episode called Doomsday, which was rarely seen on TV Land, so PLEASE cross your fingers....:)
Jefffalan 10-22-2004, 02:12 PM I just bought the Season 1 DVD and it's really good, but I'd like Season 2 even BETTER. I remember that was the season when the show really took off.

I believe that because ABC was thinking about cancelling the show after season 1 horrible ratings
Jefffalan 10-22-2004, 03:21 PM I can kind of see why. The characters kept changing for the first few episodes(different detectives, etc.) and I wasn't sure if the writers wanted to show more of his home life or not. Once the characters at the station got established and the "home life" angle went to the back burner, it seemed to take off.

Here is a statement from TV Guide's Richard Doan in February of 1975-"Barney Miller looks short-lived" I think it was too early to say a show looked short-lived since it wasn't even on the air a full month at that time.

Well Richard Doan was very wrong, since Barney Miller lasted for 8 seasons and 170 episodes...
jobo182 02-05-2005, 07:38 PM Can anyone tell me why the holdup in Season Two of Barney Miller? It seems most shows are being offered in their 3rd or 4th seasons by now. Is there some litigation involved?

ProbAbly because no one bought season 1-LOL
jobo182 02-05-2005, 07:52 PM I hope that is not the case. Many of us out here have bought it knowing that others would be out. It'll be a shame if it doesn't. Sledge Hammer is out with 2nd Season and no Miller! Wow. If anyone hears anything please drop me a note. thanks.

I have not heard anything regarding if there is going to be a second season of Barney Miller released on DVD. I have written to Sony but I did not hear a reply back, all I can say is pray

Wasn't the first season of Barney Miller free? I thought I remember hearing that it was inside a box of cereal or something. I'm being very serious
Angelgrl 02-23-2005, 08:28 PM Has anyone heard when the Second Season will be released? I know I've looked on TVshowsonDvd.com and they don't know either. Thanks.

It was just one episode. It was part of a TV Guide promotion that featured one-episode DVDs of a few old sitcoms such as Barney Miller & Leave it to Beaver. I've seen Season 1 for around $24.99 in most places.
Dr. Jazz 02-23-2005, 09:34 PM I too hope Season 2 eventually comes out. I think if a series first season is released then they should release the rest of the series, whether it did good in sales or not. They shouldn't start something and not finish it

I agree...I am hoping and praying that the rest of the seasons are going to be released on DVD (especially the 3rd season) my FAVORITE :D
mrpink73 03-08-2005, 02:19 PM Yeah, i'm pretty ticked, I picked up the first DVD about a year ago expecting more to come and nothing, there is nothing about anything Barney Miller on the web. That show was one of the best on TV while I was growing up and you have crap like punky brewster releasing there second season DVD what has this world come to. Can anyone tell me anything about the rest of the seasons coming out??? Please.

 it is confussing..I think it is quite ironic that shows like The Greatest American Hero which is already on it's second DVD, and there is still no word if there is going to be any more releases of Barney Miller...All I can say keep your fingers cross and check www.tvshowsondvd.com for any updates...

That would be a shame. I think the show just got better and better with each season. The characters became more defined, and the running jokes --Yammana's coffee, Fish's bladder, Harris's writing career -- grew over several seasons. I also want to get the "Quarantined" two-part episode.

Lady T. can you forward me the address you used for Sony so I can start a campaign to get them to release Season 2 of Barney Miller. I can't seem to find one. Thanks

I totally agree with you Jazz over the Miller seasons. The best is yet to come. I wonder if there are any legal problems we don't know about. The fans should at least be informed as to why there are no further seasons on the market.
