I really wish I would have seen Ellen yesterday, they had this old woman that they called "Kitty" there, because there was a video last year where she had jumped when the music changed...and they kept doing this countdown to Kitty, and now Ellen says they will do an AK countdown, so the show today was AK1

Too bad that show is on 10, I only get the chance to watch it Fridays..so damn funny too

You know, I was thinking on this today.
Bear with me.

I find this a little odd. Not that TJ chose to censor some words, but not this one, but because this is the case on television and in other censoring issues as well. One can say "bitch," but not something else. I'm simply using SO as an example for my sociological observation, so no one should take this as a gripe.

Anway, lets take the two words: "bitch", and "assh*le". One of them is censored, the other is not.
Now, while I, personally, tend to use both words freely, I can see more of a case for "bitch" to be censored than "assh*le." After all, for centuries, "bitch" has been used as literal verbal violence (and often used in conjunction with phyiscal violence or abuse) towards women. It is a derogatory term, literally lowering women to the level of dogs.
"Assh*le," as fat as I can tell, can only be seen as offensive to excretory orifices. Now, while I have yet to see any (literal) excretory orifices posting around here, it may possibly be that it's referring to said orifice (what are we, in 4th grade?). However, I can say "pee-pee head" (if I so chose, and I wouldn't), without fear of my message being altered, so perhaps it is simply a particular excretory orifice that makes it objectionable. However, "anus", which elicits even stronger images of aforementioned orifice, is not censored.

Anyone have an explanation for this?

Because, if you do complain, they wont uncensor assh*le, they'll just censor bitch.

I didn't care for homeocming last year, I just liked beoing with my friends.

Anyway, yesterday's good day hasn't stuck with me. I just found out my great uncle has lung cancer. Figured. Every time there's some sort of school event, I get bad news. Like 2 years ago on the day of a dance my great grandfather died. Maybe I'm jinxed... oh well I guess I'll live.

My dream last night...Chambers and barwars, you were in this one briefly...

I went to this studio and was sitting at a table with Chambers and barwars. All of a sudden (this is like a waiting room, btw) Jane Leeves, David Hyde Pierce, Kelsey Grammer, Peri Gilpin and John Mahoney enter and take their seats... Jane is kidding around with David - and I'm sitting there thinking - "Where's my camera?" They were sitting there with their scripts - I leave my table and wonder towards the front of the room where I see execs drinking from glasses that say "Fox After Breakfast" (a show Fiona Hutchison used to co-host) - I ask if I could have a glass like that and they said, "There are no more left." So I get really sad and go back to my table. I kept watching the cast of "Frasier" in awe. Someone came up to me after the gathering was over and offered her mug to me. It was a "Moonlighting" mug with Cybil Sheperd and Bruce Willis on it - so for a laugh- I said, "Yes." Later I stayed at this hotel with a few other people including Beth (my friend) - Fiona Hutchison was there, too! I looked at my watch and it showed me exactly where Fiona Hutchison was. (It was night time) I went to her room and she was in bed ready to sleep - she was sharing a bed with a few others so I made myself comfortable - she said, "There's not enough room here for you. Go to your own room," but I wanted to stay there.... *sigh* I left.

That was about it... but it was nice to see the "Frasier" cast! Haha!

This dream happened last week - the night of the hurricane!

I was inside this fan luncheon for "Frasier" - next to me sat David Lloyd, Jeff Greenberg, and Suzanne Martin (Frasier execs) I had with me my "Frasier Scripts" book. David leans over and asks, "Where did you find that?" and I replied, "I brought it from home. It has the best scripts from the show. There's another book that's green and tells about the cast and characters." They were impressed by my dedication. David Hyde Pierce came out and entertained the crowd with a monologue. My eyes were hooked on his... He was having a little trouble with his lines and I wanted to help him out. I looked at him and said, "I wish I had your script. I could help you with your lines." He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper. "Here. I want you to have this," he said, as he handed me the paper. I unfolded it - and it was his script. After his monologue, fans wanted his autograph. I looked beside me and DHP was there in David Lloyd's chair. He presented me with lots of "Frasier" memorablilia.

Nice dream.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v34/TroyandLindseyFan/rose.gif

It's also very easy to notice the influences from Cheers and Seinfeld.

I HATE its trendiness!! Current trends just date a sitcom when they're in syndication. And yeah... there are obvious Cheers and Seinfeld influences. But hey, being influenced by two very funny shows makes a pretty darn good sitcom!

But other than that.... Friends really has been consistently funny EVERY season... it's a good show.

Actually, dramas this season have been better than sitcoms (besides Joey of course)

Last year I didnt watch really any dramas (aside from the casual Alias or Las Vegas.... but this year I really like Veronica Mars, Jack & Bobby, Desperate Housewives and Boston Legal. (James Spader is hilarious in that last one)

In geometry we had group tests, and he said we got three questions, and I raised my hand, he came over, and I said "what's the meaning of life?" and he said "A Monty Python Movie" and counted it as a question.

Another time I went back and said "I dont know how to do it" and he said "well ask your group" "they dont know how to do it either" "well your ****ed". God, what a great math teacher

Let me just say I am not a racist! I am half Puerto Rican on my mother's side.

With that said, when I was in the sixth grade, my Spanish teacher Mr. Bonilla use to make fun of my weight. I got so mad at him that I said without thinking, "You Spic!" Well the whole class heard me and he told me to go outside and he threw me against the wall and said, "You're lucky you're only twelve or I would kick your ass!" The next day, I was suspended for a week.

Hm, I've never heard of that term. What's its origin? That teacher really sounds like a jerk.

Talking about getting kicked out of class, I was in a very rowdy music class in lower school where the kids drove the teacher insane. I was always one of the good kids, though. But on the day the teacher got the principal to lecture us, I had a laughing fit because somebody had just told me a joke. So when the principal got there and saw me trying to suppress my laughter, he kicked me out of the room :(.

Lucky you. My friends happen to to be very into racial slurs. I'm not too thrilled about this. Many a lighthearted argument ends in "Well, that's cause you're a Jew." Or as an introduction..."This is Marcy. She's my Jew."
Now, I don't mind it, directed at me, but some of the terms are very...loaded. Very derogatory and hurtful. I wince whenever I hear any kind of slur.

I keep forgetting to get the book. I have watched parts of the movie, however. Which was odd as I'm used to seeing her in period movies. Somebody once said I resembled her, but I didn't take that as a compliment since she has a huge head. But I think the person was only talking about her Iberian features.

Calling "spic" a racial slur is perfect proof of how races don't actually exist. They're all arbitrarily and politically defined. Anybody who knows anything knows that the population of Spanish America is so diverse that it is impossible to lump them into one racial category. I have always thought of Hispanic as being a cultural term. But popular culture forces us to view members of the same cultural group as a separate race.

She does NOT have a huge head! She's so cool! And pretty! And yes, everyone is used to seeing her in Merchant/Ivory roles, that's why its so great to see her as a self-destructive junkie! Man. She's so cool. She and Tim Burton have a baby, I think. I know they're together...next door neighbors, I believe.
I remember being in London and walking through the University of London and finding a "Bonham Carter" hall, and being like "they named a whole hall after Helena?" But then I found out that she just came from a well respected aristocratic family...that her great great grandfather was the Prime Minister of England (H.H. Asquith). Isn't that cool? I think that's cool.

If I owned a college, I'd name a building after Helena. Hell. I'd name all the buildings after people I like, personally.

For those of you who don't know this, I had two cats that died last year - two weeks apart...the first one was a fluffy Russian Blue cat, who died from eatting our parakeet - and the other was a short haired white cat, who died from drinking out of the turtle bowl so much...

At any rate, I didnt know Pirate jenny was an actual historical/mythological figure....tell me stories about her :)

No, she's neither historical nor mythological. She's simply a character in a Kurt Weill/Bertold Brecht song. (Please tell me you know Kurt Weill!). Jenny (AKA. "Low Dive Jenny" is a prostitute (big surprise...all of Weill's women were prostitutes, and most of them were named Jenny--hence the "Jenny" in Bebe's Here Lies Jenny), and in this song she verbalises her fantasy of a pirate ship appearing, of which she is the assumed leader, ransacks the town, and, under her command, kills everyone who has abused her (which, because this is Weill, is ****ing everyone in the town). It's...a revenge fantasy of sorts. There's another interpretation of the song, based on another of "The Threepenny Opera"'s characters, but, dude, that characters name is "Polly." And it's not Pirate ****ing Polly. And yes, Bebe has been Jenny in Threepenny.

I put the lyrics somewhere, but I'll put them here...its a great song, inspired the movie Dogville. Which i've already extolled somewhere else, so I'll spare you that.

You lads see me wash the glasses, wipe the floors,
Make the beds, I'm the best of servants.
You can kindly throw me pennies and I'll thank you very much.
When you see me ragged and tattered in this dirty **** hotel,
You don't know in hell who's talking,
You still don't know in hell who's talking.
Yet one fine day there will be roars from the harbour
And you'll ask, "What is all that screeching for ?"
And you'll see me smiling as I dunk the glasses
And you'll say, "What's she got to smile at for ?"
And the ship, eight sails shining,
Fifty-five cannons wide, Sir,
Waits there at the quay.

You say, "Work on, wipe the glasses, my girl."
And just slip me a dirty six-pence.
And your pennies will be taken, and your beds will be made,
(But I doubt if forty winks will come anybody's way)
And you still don't know in hell who's talking,
You still don't know in hell who's talking.
Still one fine day there'll be a loud bang from the harbour,
And you'll ask, "Jesus Christ, what was that bang ?"
And you'll see me standing right behind the window,
And you'll say, "Why has she got the evil eye ?"
And the ship, eight sails shining,
Fifty-five cannons wide, Sir,
Will be aimed at this town.

So then lads, it's time for tears, no more laughs at the bar,
For the walls will be at your ankles.
And look out, lads, the town will be flat as the ground,
This dirty **** hotel will be spared wrack and ruin
And you'll say, "Who is the fancy bitch lives there ?"
You'll say, "Who is the fancy bitch lives there ?"
There'll be rows of people running round the hotel
And you'll ask, "Why should they have spared this hovel ?"
And you'll see me in the morning leaving lightly
And you'll say, "That one, her , she lived there ?"
The same ship, eight sails shining,
Fifty-five cannons wide, Sir,
Flies crossbones and skull.

In the midday sun a hundred men will step ashore
All tramping where shadows crawled.
They'll lay their hands on men, hiding ****-scared behind doors
Lead them in chains here before this silent woman,
And they'll say, "Well, which ones shall we kill ?"
They'll say, "Which ones shall we kill ?"
Come the dot of twelve, it will be still in the harbour,
When they ask me, "Well, who is going to die ?"
And you'll hear me whispering, oh, so sweetly, "All of them!"
And as the soft heads fall, I'll say, "Hoopla!"
That same ship, eight sails shining,
Fifty-five cannons wide, Sir,
Disappears with me.

PS. I LOVE the word "hoopla." It's my favorite word of all time. Hoopla!

The greatest Normism....

I know, it wouldn't be fair. It's 100 times more original than all of your names put together.

And it's much more meaningful - taking into account the fact that it also refers to chamber, a physical room, reflecting the characters seclusion from the real world.

"barwars" is simply a mock off of "Star Wars" - "Moondance" on the other hand is the combining of Daphne "Moon" and Daphne teaching Niles to "dance" - then Niles ends up taking Daphne to the ball and they "dance" the tango together! :D

They chose the episode "I'll Be Seeing You" as the most important (from Cheers)

I wouldn't pick that (I would say either the "I Do, Adieu", "Home Is The Sailor" or "One For The Road", but thats me)

Wow. Was that really an important event in TV history? Its not like they dont get back together. I'd definately say I Do, Adieu was more significant. Just because her leaving changed the whole dynamic of the show, and nobody knew if Cheers would stay sucessful after she left.

I've always done good in both (up until last year with math, but that was a problem with the teacher, Ive bounced back).... but prefered language, because, its actually useful.

I do have to say though, we never learned proper sentence structure in all my years of school.... but I thought it was the easiest part of the test, thanks to Cheers and Frasier.
