Everybody's been comparing Veronica Mars to Buffy, especially as the former popular high school girl reluctantly turned evil-fighter, but I think she also compares well to Xena, even without the ""Mars"" and ""Neptune"" mythology references. She's smart enough to use her wit and wits to get out of bad situations because she can't just slay people, but she can defend herself (go Backup!). She neatly arranged the bong/tape gambit. Her father is smart too; how nice to see a parent. The writing is as good as the Xena or Buffy stories, combining short-term and long-term plots. I look forward to watching a LOT more.

Very good points. "Veronica Mars" is a very intelligent show.
