I have a question....when they were showing different groups of people reading about Meg's protest arrest in the paper, I kept waiting for them to show the American Bandstand producers reading it to the executives or something.

Wouldn't an arrest like that back then affect her appearances on AB due to the unwanted negative press (unlike today, it was a happy, happy show and they would only want happy, happy kids)?

And why didn't the reporter capitalize on the fact that Meg Pryor was a dancer on AB?

Since American Bandstand is a national show, and her protest did not make national news most people probably didn't know about it or make the connection that the girl in the newspaper was her. Also, correct me if i am wrong, wasn't the article in the paper written by Jack's opponent and not a reporter. Also I don't think he capitalized on the fact that she is on AB because a lot of people like the show and with her being a well known regular, it might actually help the Pryor familly gain interest and popularity.

I didn't realize that the opponent wrote the article. That does make a difference. Probably back then the older people didn't even realize what Bandstand was so the opponent may not have heard of it. And yes, you are right that he wouldn't want to bring attention to the fact that Jack's daughter is a well-liked celebrity.

I still wonder why the Bandstand folks didn't at least do a hand slap.
