LOS ANGELES - USA will put a "Groundhog Day" spin on Christmas with its holiday-movie offering, "The 12 Days of Christmas Eve."
"Saturday Night Live" alum Molly Shannon and former "Wings" and "Once and Again" star Steven Weber will star in the telefilm, which begins production this week. Martha Coolidge ("Introducing Dorothy Dandridge," "Valley Girl") is directing.
Weber will play Calvin Carter, an arrogant, powerful businessman who, after an accident, finds himself reliving Christmas Eve over and over until he learns the True Spirit of the Season. Shannon plays a nurse named Angie who helps Calvin regain his health and his conscience.
J.B. White (CBS' "Guilty Hearts") is writing "The 12 Days of Christmas Eve, from a story by White and Jean Abounader.
Weber, who starred in ABC's limited-run series "The D.A." in the spring, played pilot Brian Hackett on "Wings" for seven seasons. His other credits include "Single White Female," NBC's "The Weber Show" (aka "Cursed") and Showtime's upcoming musical version of "Reefer Madness."
Shannon starred on "Saturday Night Live" from 1995-2001, earning an Emmy nomination in 2000. She's recently appeared in ABC's adaptation of "The Music Man," "American Splendor" and the short-lived FOX series "Cracking Up."
