View Full Version : Lindsay Lohan's "Rumors"

I heard the first single from Lindsay Lohan's upcoming album. The song is called "Rumors" and it is one of the worst songs that I have ever heard. She screams almost all the lyrics. Why someone gave this girl a recording contract is beyond me. And what's up with all these pop singers trying to come across as punk. Lindsay's just the latest in a long line of young artists who get themselves confused with punk rockers. I know that BuffySlayer has touched on this point before, and he is correct.

lmao. i'm gonna download it just to hear how awful it is and make fun of her.

Because people want money. it's very ironic that every huge disney teenie (hilary duff, raven, lindsay) is getting a record deal, and none of them have any skill in singing. it's an absolute insult to the music industry, and like i said before i take music and singing careers seriously and i don't want to get signed if the company insists on digitally enhancing my voice or changing my image.

If you want to hear awful singing, Lindsay's song is the song for you Sarah. :D

Oh my God... I heard this song. Horrible is not even the WORD.

It's more like atrocious.

I haven't heard it. I think she's a good actress. I hate when good actresses try to be singers and vise versa. It must stop.

She's better than Hilary. I'll give her that much. She doesn't really bother me that much, but it's a stupid song.

the song isn't so bad, I like it better than Hilary, Ashlee or Avril. But why is her first single about "don't believe the rumors"? Believe it or not, she isn't enough on the radar that it matters. She is hardly in the position to write a "screw you hypocrites" song like Michael Jackson's Scream or Madonna's Human Nature.

For once John I actually think your wrong. Lindsay just screams the lyrics. This isn't music, it's someone yelling into a microphone for three or four minutes. And what on Earth does Lohan have to be so upset about?

Oh my god. The song itself isn't too bad, but the lyrics are just APPALLING.

Saturday, steppin' into the club
The music make me wanna tell the DJ 'turn it up'
I feel the energy all around
And my body can't stop movin' to the sound
But I can't tell that you're watchin' me
And you're probably gonna write what you didn't see
Well let me steal a little space to breathe
Can you please respect my privacy?

Why can't you just let me do the things I wanna do
I just wanna be me, I don't understand why
Would you wanna bring me down if I'm only having fun
I'm gonna live my life (not the way you want me to)

CHORUS:
I'm tired of rumors startin'
I'm sick of being followed
I'm tired of people lyin'
Sayin' what they want to about me
Why can't they back up off me?
Why can't they let me live?
I'm gonna do it my way
Take this for just what it is

So here we are back up in the club
People takin' pictures
Don't you think they get enough?
I just wanna get my crew (?) to the floor
And throw my hands up in the air to the beat like (What)
I would like to say respectfully
I would love it if you took the cameras off of me
Cause I just need a little room to breathe
Can you please respect my privacy?

Why can't you just let me do the things I wanna do
I just wanna be me, I don't understand why
Would you wanna bring me down if I'm only having fun
I'm gonna live my life (not the way you want me to)

REPEAT CHORUS

I just need to free my mind (my mind)
Just wanna dance and have a good time

I'm tired of rumors (rumors)
Followed (followed)
Why can't they (they) let me live
Take this for just what it is

REPEAT CHORUS X2

I'm embarrassed for whoever wrote that. It's the most poorly written song i've seen in my life and it doesn't even make sense. The idea of having a "singing career" isn't blabbing out rhyming sentences. didn't she only get signed a few months ago? and she's already releasing an album. the fact that she didn't put any effort into it shows.

I like it. Though I like the orginal 'Rumors' better, and I like My Prerogative a lot better too.

No one listens to me when I say that stuff. Just think I'm bitching or whatever. So it bothers me. I'm sorry.

I like Lindsay, I guess. She seems okay...but if one more talentless teeny gets a record deal, I'm commiting 1st a homicide, and then...a suicide. :)

That's because being punk is "in" now.

yea but none of these artists knows the first thing about punk. I am sorry, but if a young new artist came out and then said he's never heard of Run-DMC, he would be booed and never once taken seriously. People like Avril and Hilary proclaim to be punk but they can't name you any authentic punk artists.

The closest she's ever come to doing that is when she wore a shirt that said "Punk Rock" on it. If you want to take that as proclaiming that she, herself is a punk artist...I've worn a "Chicago Bulls" T-shirt, that doesnt mean I play basketball, and that doesnt mean I play for the Bulls or live in Chicago.

That's the best way i've ever heard of to explain that. People think ashlee simpson is a "poser" because she wears a shirt that says "punk" in her video. they sure as hell wouldn't be calling her a poser if it said "country music artist". it's only punk, goth and emo that people think you're trying to be and give you crap about it. what about all those stupid shirts that say "princess" and "angel", i guess whoever wears those are posers too because they're saying they're something they're not.

I've never heard that song before. I've heard the song "Ultimate" from both the "Freaky Friday" and "That's So Raven" soundtracks. Lindsay Lohan is such a great actress. I have "The Parent Trap" on VHS with Lindsay when she was about 11 years old. I have the DVD "Freak Friday" and the two movies I would like to get on DVD is "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" and "Mean Girls".:)

A few days ago, right before I came to the bus to work, I saw the music video for Lindsay Lohan's first single "Rumors" and it was a great song. And the label that Lindsay released that single is Casablanca Records, the label where Donna Summer and the Village People was on that label.

Lindsay Lohan should just stick to acting. I'm tired of these Disney girls thinking that they can sing! Just because you can act, doesn't automatically make you a singer. And sorry for Lindsay, but she is one of those girls.

Why would you wear a band shirt for a band that you don't even listen too?

yeah, just because she's pop doesn't mean that's the only genre she can listen to. some people, such as myself, like a wide range of music.

I certainly see your point Sarah, and for the most part I agree with it. However, I don't see Hilary being into Moterhead.
