That's disappointing. Why do they skip episodes anyway?

TV land Canada skipped episodes, too. They played the first couple seasons and then began again with the Pilot episode. I was hoping to see episodes like The Real Thing and My Name Is Alex, but I don't know if they ever aired them. To get the collection of episodes I have on tape now I've had to tape episodes from both Vision TV and TV Land Canada. It would make sense to me, too, to show the episodes in order.

TV Land is skipping episodes again. It's so annoying. They're skipping episodes 006-007, 009, 011-018 and 026-031.

Schedule:
10/3/04 3AM 003 - I Know Jennifer's Boyfriend
10/4/04 3AM 004 - Not With My Sister You Don't
10/5/04 3AM 005 - Oops
10/6/04 3AM 008 - I Never Killed For My Father
10/7/04 3AM 010 - Suzanne Will Take You Down
10/8/04 3AM 019 - French Lessons
10/9/04 3AM 020 - I Gotta Be Ming
10/10/04 021 - Stage Fright
10/11/04 022 - Fifth Wheel
10/12/04 023 - Tender In The Night
10/13/04 024 - To Snatch A Keath
10/14/04 025 - Speed Trap
10/15/04 032 - This Year's Model

I found out from the TV LAND board that the reason is because Family Ties contract expires at the end of November and that contract restrictions may be the reason certain episodes will be skipped during the remaining airing of the show.

Any news on if it will air on a different channel after that?

Or if TV Land will pick it back up??

Usually, TV Land gets new contracts on shows soon after the old one expires.

When TVLand buys the rights to a show, it's usually for X amount of airings per episode. If they have a specialized marathon of some sort, it often involves showing particular episodes, which counts towards the total number of airings they're allowed. The upshot is certain episodes have already been aired their alloted amount of times, and are therefore excluded (or "skipped") during subsequent sequential runs.

(Hope that made some sense.)

Don't know. Will see what happens. If not, maybe it will be out on DVD soon. According to amazon.com "Not yet released". No word on when will it come out. Stay tuned.

Isn't the first season of "Family Ties" supposed to be released on DVD in the first half of 2005?

On TV Land's website, they still have "Family Ties" listed as one of their shows, so maybe they have plans to renew the contract soon?

Either way, it doesn't make much difference to me right now, since I live in the UK - but we usually go to America in the summer time, and I try to catch it on TV Land during the couple of weeks or so that we're there.
