I noticed that joke being edited out, too, which was a shame, because it was truly funny. It reminded me of an old episode of "The Flintstones", where they went to visit the Grand Canyon. All it was was a thin stream of trickling water. Fred commented that it didn't look so great. Barney added "Yeah, but they say in a couple of million years it will really be something to see!"

There are several minutes cut out of each episode, too allow for more commercials. Jack1000 is our resident expert on what exactly has been cut. If you go down to the second page of posts, you'll see a thread called "Brady Bunch Episode/Scene No Longer Aired " that details a lot of these cuts.

I just watched the Grand Canyon episodes yesterday, and noticed the same thing.
But in the same vein, I had never seen the part where they ride past the old train station, and Alice comments that it was built in 1881. When everyone looks at her, she states..."Don't worry, I wasn't around then....I just noticed the writing on the side of the train".
